We've been subsisting on my cooking since the Corona-crud hit. Although we're still alive, I'm not a novisnick when it comes to cuisine. So for a change, we ordered out today to the local "Rice and Roux" and REALLY enjoyed the change of menu! Lunch specials $9.99 to 10.99 each: Chicken & sausage jambalaya + 2 Crawfish Pies + Chicken Gumbo + Potato Salad and Pork & sausage jambalaya + Red Beans & Rice + Chicken & Sausage Gumbo + Green Beans and we got enough for at least two meals each!

Were those the actual pictures because it looks really good! We've been too scared to trust take out food yet. Maybe eventually we'll cave. I'm having dreams of what I'll order when this is all over.

You aren't kidding! That looks like a really entertaining channel. Have to watch it when I get a chance. I do agree that Dominos is SOOO much better than it used to be. I really like their cheese and pineapple (I know I know) pizza. Also their pasta bowl pizza.

We're not yet comfortable ordering uncooked things like salads (sigh - mouth waters), but for cooked food we believe that the heat is sufficient to sterilize the food. If we've any question, we can always nuke it some more in the microwave before consumption. The photos are from the restaurant's website. I order online and pick up at their drive-through window. Every time I've gone, not only does their window server have on a mask but all the cooks that I can see in the background are wearing masks and gloves.

I can take you to some Puerto Rican or Dominican restaurants here in Cleveland that can do waaaayyyy better than that, heck, I can cook you some of that myself...

Mr. Boom, I'm not telling you to do something you're uncomfortable with, but the risk of getting Covid from food is extremely low. Even from uncooked foods, like salad. www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/food-and-COVID-19.html. I'm hoping you and others will feel comfortable having salads and other leafy greens very soon. This is my industry and paycheck on the line.

I'll try to convince her, but sometimes the better half reads some garbage on line and then there's no use trying to change her mind with facts. But thanks most kindly for the link - maybe she'll accept info from the CDC. I showed it to her. She says since we're in a "high risk group," we can't use that info.

I'm hoping you and others will feel comfortable having salads and other leafy greens very soon. This is my industry and paycheck on the line. Amen. I eat green salads several times a week and sashimi (raw fish) 2 or more times a a week. The other days I eat Japanese food or peanut butter and jam samwiches. My favorite is the Garlic Seared Salmon nigiri at our favorite Kaiten (conveyor belt) sushi restaurant. Also poke salad, raw fish/avacado/lettuce/etc. None of these are spicy. Contrary to common American misbelief, Japanese food is never spicy (wasabi is a condiment). Many so-called Sushi places in the US are run by Koreans, Chinese or Aliens and hence the spicy sushi. I borrowed these poor photos from the internet. I'll add my own when I can find them. Garlic Seared Salmon Nigiri Poke Salad If I need a cooked vegetable, I prefer some collieflower PS, Boomzilla for what it's worth: Both my wife (5 yr stage 4 lung cancer survivor - now almost 4 years in remission but with emphysema) and this Nut (50 year heart patient now in 6th yr with CHF, congestive heart failure) are both high risk and still kicking. LOL - Many down here still call sushi "eating the bait." I've tried it & don't object to it, but still haven't developed a taste for it.

Well yeah, as long as you don't put the lettuce or other food in your nose because there might be cooties on them and they'll run right up your nostrils if you let them. And don't inhale right before putting the food in your mouth.

FWIW I never stopped eating restaurant food. My ex wife and I (yes, we're still friendly) ate at a favorite restaurant just days before the total shutdown and went again as soon as it reopened. I've ordered take-out continuously. Not good for anyone for any business to fail.
I met some friends at a local deli about a week after this location was allowing dine-in and it was very sad. More staff than customers. I spent as much on the tip as what the food cost. I felt guilty for not being able to do more.
A restaurant will never be cleaner than upon reopening after having been shutdown due to health code violations. Same with this covid stuff. Everyone is on their best behavior.
