I bought a pair of Omens (Dirty Weekend edition) with capacitor upgrades. At some point a small SET amp will be running them.
Does anyone here own Omens? Have you run them with an XPA type amp?
How do you like them?

I found an online review in Stereophile about the XPA-2 Gen3 .. they ran it another Zu model (Soul Supreme maybe). They seemed to like that pairing a lot. But, I'll be sure to post a review Edit... I'm GENERALLY not in favor of running very high sensitivity speakers with powerful amps. ANY system noise will be ruthlessly revealed. One site calls 'em 98db sensitive. That's a huge number if correct. Me? I'd be tempted to send off for the Amp Camp Amp KIT for 330$ and spend a weekend with a do-not-disturb dign on my work area door. 6 or 8 a side of Single Ended Class 'A' should be way sufficient unless you are in a very large space or like it on the louder side. diyaudiostore.com/collections/amp-camp-ampI'd personally go for the complete kit, with case, PS and ALL the internals. Just so much easier that way.

I have a pair of Zu Essence which I drive with a Melody I2A3 pushpull amp (18watts per channel). Seems like a good match. Attachments:

I'll bet even your 18 a side is more than enough...... In another small bedroom, I have a set of Cain & Cain Abbeys, a 96 dB efficient single full range driver design. I had read about how Nelson Pass was enjoying these same speakers driven by his FirstWatt F1 amp, which is a current controlled amp specifically designed to power a single driver. So I ordered an F1 from that Las Vegas outfit that Pass uses and my F1 was the built by Nelson. He even sent me a note that he was going to supply a simple filter to put across the speaker outputs that , for his ears, seemed to make an improvement. I thought the F1 and the Abbeys sounded great but needed some bass help, so I added stereo active subs to the set up. Now things seemed really pleasing, UNTIL .. I found some one selling a pair of 8 watt George Wright 300 b mono blocks for only $400. Now, I prefer these on the Abbeys instead of the F1. They just sound sweeter, fuller to my ears. But I can easily go back and forth between the two systems. Sometimes I use the ss F1s because I fear using too much life of the 300bs. The tubes are expensive.
