Distance between positive and negative terminals

Heyas, so I've had a problem I hadn't really thought about in some time which is that some premade high end bi-terminal speaker cables I have do not split enough to be able to input into both positive and negative terminals of my XPA 1Ls.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a way besides using a different cable to solve it?

Some plastic-insulated wires can just be pulled apart for more split, but the fancier the cable, the more likely it is to have either a plastic sleeve over the individual terminal wires or else to have a limiting block that prevents additional separation.

Other than buying replacement wires, my best suggestion is to solder up some "extension cables." These would be single wires with female banana jacks on one end and male ones on the other. By putting, say, a six-inch extension on both the positive and negative wires of your existing speaker cables, the existing wires could be used with any power amplifier. Even for bi-wire cables, only two extension wires would be needed per channel since the only place you need more separation is at the amplifier end. You'd need to split and discard the rubber center sleeve on these:

Alternately, use couplers to connect two speaker wire sets:

If your speaker wires use spade terminals, things become more difficult...
