On my Facebook page earlier today I saw an Emotiva post that it was “National Radio Day”! I went to do something else and never saw it again, so I looked it up, sure enough that’s what it is, August 20th. You can read about it here (and probably elsewhere): nationaldaycalendar.com/national-radio-day-august-20/I thought I’d post a couple pics of two old radios I have, how about you? Any old — or just cool — radios to show off? Post them here ...

Not just old stuff is cool, this was my first separate tuner, and one of the coolest pieces of kit I’ve ever owned. Nixie tunes to display the frequency, an oscilloscope to aid in precise tuning, and to evaluate the signal, and the tuning knob was capacitively sensitive to your touch and switched between the two modes. Line inputs to the scope allowed you send all your audio into the display so you could use it to setup your turntable as well. I listened to all the great LA stations in the mid-70’s with it, and it sounded great.

This is what i purchased in 1969. Still works great! I don't have the old tube Allied Radio I used to listen to in our breakfast nook. Turn it on, wait about 40 seconds, then SOUND!
