Hello, I am looking into buying a used RPA-1 amp and maybe the RSP-1 preamp and I have a few questions. Can anyone give an idea of their worth today? Were there any problems with these? Why did Emotiva stop making dual mono amps?
thanks!

I heard they were great! Of course, they are old units so good to keep in mind.

I don't recall any problems with either of them. The reason why they quit making them, in general, was that "better" became less expensive allowing for them to offer "more" for the same price point (words in quotations are subjective). Another factor is the designs became too expensive for what they felt they could sell them for and still make a profit. As for the dual-mono design of the RPA-1, the whole point of having dual-monos was for channel separation. With the introduction of the XPA series they were able to keep cross-talk between the channels well below audible levels while lowering cost to produce (and likely shipping costs as well).

thanks for the info. I understand the RPA 1 and RSP 1 are a nice pair, any idea what they are worth today?

I'm guessing between $300-500 each, the amp on the higher side. (Uneducated guess)

I'll agree with garbulky, looking online I'm seeing $300~$400 for either. Considering that they're 13 years old and only sold for $699 each, they've held their value well.

Worth is VERY subjective. I'd say they're worth ONLY what someone is willing to pay.
I've got a Parka. An Eddie Bauer Ridgeline. New cost would be 200 to 300. Mine is PERFECT lacking only the 'new' tags. Can't give it away. I figue its got to be worth 100$, but don't even get any offers......Not that many people NEED a Parka good to maybe 30 Below...

Hi Dortiz,
Not sure if you’re still looking, but I have an RSP-1 and RPA-1 that I’m looking to part with. They are beautiful pieces, but just don’t blend well with my current setup. Feel free to send me a PM if you might be interested! I believe at least one of the units was recapped as well, but I’d have to open it up to make sure.
