I am a big Dune buggy. I really look forward to this! Will it be in theaters or streaming?

Are they going to remake Waterworld and Heaven's Gate?
Seriously, I hope it's better.

It is said that there is no bad Denis Villeneuve movie. Must watch his other films when I go on holidays later this month. Though I watched Sicario 3x and Blade Runner 2x.
Probably one of the better Canadian exports, er, expats right now.

Dune is one of those iconic science fiction franchises that permeate the genre like Tolkien's work does in the fantasy genre. The Jodorowsky attempt was just too far out to succeed. The Lynch version struggled to put the higher concepts and world building into a 2 hour film in the post-Star Wars (Science Fantasy) world. The Sci-Fi miniseries really did do justice to the materials but its shoe string budget and early CGI FX really hurt it.
This looks to have the budget and people that care about the source material attached. It will look fantastic. The material is fantastic. I hope Villeneuve can pull it all together to make a movie that does justice to the material. I'm really looking forward to seeing the first installment (they're splitting the opening novel into 2 movies).
Of note, I really enjoyed hearing Pink Floyd's Eclipse in the trailer. If you know the story and you know the lyrics you'll see it's a perfect match.

I surly was disappointed with the original DUNE..I hope this makes up for the mammoth FLOP. PS...Coppola is making a REDUX of the final GODFATHER..a classic trilogy IMO. Looking forward to that one as well.

Talk about your sweeping story lines. Foundation and Empire? Wow. Great material for sure.

The "based on" mention in the trailer of Foundation concerns me a little. On the other hand, having avidly read the original trilogy, the prequels and the sequels, I can see how a bit of adaptation to the screen might have been needed.
It is a type of science fiction writing, especially the original trilogy, that would be considered slow and with not much action by today's standard.
I only hope they were not too heavy handed with the screenwriting and preserved the original spirit of the storyline.
It might be time for a re-read of the adventures of Hari Seldon and those that followed 😁.

I hope in the remake the worms bury the first film

I agree... the Foundation Trilogy was awesome to read... and the basic premise COULD survive being reduced to the size of a single movie.
Although, compared to the size of my imagination, I always find on-screen depictions of huge events to fall somewhat short of the mark.
I can imagine a planet being blown up, and killing a billion people, but you cannot picture it with full and proper impact in a single frame or a single video clip. That image can fit in my imagination but I've never seen it fit on a screen.
What I fear is that they would follow the precedent which many modern movies do... and reduce it to a lot of human interest interactions between characters. It's a sweeping space opera, which spans millions of planets, and thousands of generations.
You just can't spend a lot of time on individual characters without losing the overall sweeping character of the entire tale.
I must admit that, although the premise was interesting, I found the Dune story to be too complex and convoluted. I could neither get especially interested in individual characters nor the story as a whole. (I'm afraid I thought that Dune would have made one really nice book... but, by the end, I was rather bored.)
