Current setup included s Emotiva MC700 paired with Outlaw Audio 5000. My 2 subs are older M&K 125w 12s.
Would I be better off with the new Emotiva Subs? Or A pair of SVS 2000 or even a pair of Monolith 12 THX.
Are the new subs that much better.
This setup is used more for movies than music.

This setup is used more for movies than music. if DIY is an option, you can get considerably better sub for a lot less money. Just depends on whether or not you feel like putting the effort in or not. |

In what way do you think your current system is lacking? My current system sounds OK. I am curious of the improvements in the subs. The M&Ks that I have now are awesome subs (in their prime). Maybe Im just making it up because I want new equipment. |

The “newest” driver in my system is the subwoofer. In January it will be 20 years in service (save the plate amp.)
The oldest driver in this “vintage” system is 33 years of age!
Proof that high quality loudspeakers are arguably the most enduring of all the technology we here embrace.

I don't claim to be an expert in any of this, but multiple subs of any variety typically outperform a single sub due to being able to balance out in room nulls and such. |
