I have an older UMC-200 processor in my bedroom 5.1 setup. Works fine, but F/W updates were always a pain as I recall. Is the MC-700 considered a successor to the UMC-200 and/or an upgrade in comparison? I occasionally get intermittent static on my front channels on the UMC. I have the old UPA-500 amp hooked to it.
Just thinking about if it is worth it to update the setup with the MC-700. I don't have 4K on the bedroom, but have a decent Samsung LED tv, Dish Network sat box, Roku 3, and Sony BD player.
Is there any trade-in program for these?

I have a UMC-200 and it’s been really good for HT use. Good but no comparison to the RMC-1. I haven’t had any problems with the UMC-200. I’ve had no experience with the MC-700, sorry I couldn’t be more help.

No trade in program that I am aware of. I have helped install an MC-700 and it sounded much like a UMC-200, just with 4K capability. If you need 4k switching then a value for money upgrade. But for sound quality, without a back to back, I doubt there’s much difference.
When faced with the same choice I went for a used XMC-1.
Cheers Gary
