+1... my wife actually gave me the ok, but I can't justify the cost. lol I hope you don't mind me saying you hint at beautiful restraint. Usually I look towards my wife to help support me like an echo chamber rather than be the voice of reason to rationalize against my wants! All i'd need is for her to give me the green light. However, I realize what I'm lacking [restraint] and turn to her. I guess we're both sides of an extreme when trying to find the happy middle in between. Meant this as a compliment! Thanks... audio or HT wise, it's difficult for me to justify the cost of obtaining that extra last bit of improvement. It's not an affordability question, I always question myself... do I actually need it. My wife has always stood by my side, no matter the hobby, impulse buy, etc. She usually tells me... you work hard, you always put the family first, you deserve it... treat yourself. I usually say... thanks, but let me think about it; however, she knows that means it's not happening. Restraint... maybe stupidity... maybe a little of both. LMFAO

Having a group of fellas sharing my own interests and hearing this from among them is priceless. Have a blessed day, William

Cars I want Used Lincoln Town Car (this is probably going to happen soon. I LOVE the comfort of these cars). ![](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/10/Lincoln_Town_Car_.jpg) Tesla Model 3/S (lowest model) or Tesla Cybertruck for longevity Do you have the swag of Matthew McConaughey to drive a Lincoln? ![](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/01UAAOSwpfhdCNwz/s-l640.jpg) In all seriousness that's quite a contrast. I mean the mileage of a Lincoln compared to Tesla. Why not a Cadillac? It's difficult to compete w/ the amount of bodies you can put in the trunk of a Caddy! I'm open to a Cadillac but I'm more familiar with the Town car platform. The reason I like the Town car is for comfort and cost effectiveness. It's cheap as heck for what you get. And the repair costs, though you do encounter a few are reasonably low cost. I could get a Town Car with about 55 to 80k miles for about 8 grand and run it for a 7-10 years with a total repair cost of about $3k. That's pretty good. Reason I like the Tesla is for Comfort - the single speed gearbox and the full self driving will seriously help me physically. That's huge. It makes my commute far more comfortable. The other is (hopefully) durability and less hassle. A good battery, modular motors. The teslas don't have these issues: oil changes, oil tank, oxygen sensors, catalytic sensors, power steering fluid. spark plugs., alternator, intake manifold. The cybertruck has no paint or cranked windshield problems. All of these I've had to replace on gas cars taking more time than I want to spend repairing them. Finally, due to the nature of my travel, I realistically never have to visit a refuel station except every few years. Things I don't like - even the model S is likely too small for me. I'm not thrilled with the looks (while I think the town car looks fab). Also of course the price is very high as I'm used to old cheap cars. In terms of gas mileage, it is not high on my priority list. The majority of my cars have been V8s.

LG C9 OLED 77 inch. Emotiva's upcoming headphone amp. Sennheiser HD800S. Schiit Ygdrassil. Maybe Schitt Freya S. I would just let Tekton do it. Their finish is also quite good. Tekton's pricing: www.tektondesign.com/21-sub.htmlI considered doing everything myself and also Pre-Fab enclosures and purchasing the woofers myself. Just can't beat Tekton's pricing. I now think 4-21" woofers wouldn't be realistic but I may consider one or two of Tekton's 21" subs sometime next year

I Wanna --- Under $1k Home Theater Preamp with Dirac that just works. No major bugs that cause my family to hate me. Just switch between sources, determine the Codec and play.
I haven't found this yet.

I'd use Eminence speakers four of them since Tekton uses Eminence in the Ulfs for the 12" subs. I just fell over seeing the price of $749.00 per 21" sub. I haven't even looked into amps yet for each. Then I'm thinking sealed or ported? I'd probably go sealed. Then the question is whether to divide the woofers from one another in one giant enclosure or have them share the same sealed volume? www.eminence.com/speakers/speaker-detail/?model=NSW6021_6Have been reading your posts on headphone amps and headphones Garbulky. I hope you post more on the subject because I wouldn't mind having something to listen to while my wife works from home or late at night when she's sleeping. Thanks for chiming in! While I love my HD700, I'm not sure if the sennheisers would be the brand you are looking for. Your pursuit of better subs show that you want some good solid bottom end. While I have no complaints on Sennheisers, there are likely other brands that bring the punch a bit better in terms of bass. I prefer the Sennheisers because of their excellent mid range sound. Cheaper versions lack a little detail, but still have that focus on midrange. They are not boom box headphones, they never over emphasize bass or treble. So for my usage, they are perfect for long movie sessions where "party phones" would end up driving me nuts and giving me ear aches from the harsh treble or annoying bass. You put these on, and you can listen for hours without ear fatigue. If you do a direct comparison vs other phones (like phillips or sony) you will probably think the sennheisers are dead or lifeless (the cheaper ones anyway). But once you get acclimatized to their sound signature, they can grow on you and really come to life. It's like eating too much sugar. Bite into a raw bell pepper/carrot and you think "aw that's disgusting". Now chop out all sugar from your diet for a week and bite back into the pepper and you'll instantly realize how sweet that pepper actually is.

Maybe it is a good idea to stay away from BestBuy product lines? I mean, I'm sure retail sellers are meant to profit from highly marketable manufacture's lineups. Whenever I hear "for the price" I'm thinking they just capped Hifi.

I wanna.......... Tekton has the Brisance which utilizes two 8" midbass drivers and an 18" subwoofer powered by an active DSP/Amp 2500 watts rms: www.tektondesign.com/brisance.html![](https://www.tektondesign.com/uploads/9/8/4/7/98478018/brisance_orig.png) I'm thinking I could shift my crossover points upwards to run my eight 10" woofers into midbass territory after adding two 21" subwoofers down low. I don't see how I could add the above Brisance around the room since the woofers play up to 300hz w/out the sound becoming localized. However, my dual 4-10 inch are symmetrically located in the front sound stage so localization shouldn't be a problem. ![](https://www.tektondesign.com/uploads/9/8/4/7/98478018/21-sub_orig.png) Tekton sells the above 21" for 1400 dollars. The Eminence 21" woofer alone is 745 w/ prefab enclosures costing hundreds and then there's the finishing. For that price I can't see getting my own hands dirt.

Are you saying that your Ulberfeits only tackle 300 hz and up?! No, never said that ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) The Ulfs play down to 16hz for accurate detail during musical playback. However, during movie playback such as "Danger Close" concerning heavy artillery I find the overall spl down low lacking. Not to mention there's the inability to playback the chopper's whirling blades in Black Hawk Down during the Irene scene. In the Irene scene the whirl of the Black Hawk's blades play down at 8hz. I'm thinking I could run: Dual 21" up to 60-80hz Dual 4-10s from 50-60hz up to round 200-250hz [at this moment dual 4-10s play from 20hz to 80hz]. That in my mind ought to really replicate heavy percussion during movie scenes in a 24x24x12 ft listening space. When the big guns began firing in Danger Close [trailer 1 minute 4-7 seconds] I want enough volume to launch viewers out their seats running for cover!
