Well, what do you think guys, still legendary? I have had a bunch of amps from Emotiva, but not this one, because at the time I went with XPA-1Ls.
Right now I only have mono amps around the house, the XPA-1Ls and PA-1s. I really like them both, but I don't have a stereo amp that would fit my rack which I built and will not be changed. There was a lot of discussion about SA250 vs XPA2 vs XPA1Ls. More capacitance here, less torrid there, mono vs stereo etc.
Now I don't need this amp, but I fear losing my XPA1Ls over time, and if I ever go back to class AB in my movie area, I would like to have the SA250. Plus how cool does it look?
Seller asking $850, input please!
Thank you.

Do check to see if it has any warranty left and if the power supply caps are leaking. That price seems a bit steep to me.

I loved my first one so much I bought a second and wouldn't mind a 3rd. I have 2 difficult to drive speakers (but for different reasons). It laughs at both loads and SQ is EXCELLENT. GREAT bass, perfect mids and smooth highs. I had auditioned a Bryston 4BSST that was way more money but you pay for the 20 yr warranty. But the SA250 had better bass. Have the seller pop the lid and make sure none of the big power caps are leaking. A very few had a problem with them.
If all looks good offer him $800 he may take it.
Everyone who comes into the family room says OOOO... what's that?
There were only 500 units made.

Yes change those electrolytic capacitors to some Nichicon 105c audio grade capacitors. You'll be glad you did.

Yes change those electrolytic capacitors to some Nichicon 105c audio grade capacitors. You'll be glad you did. Only a few had issues. The caps are RM which might stand for Richard Marsh, a big name in capacitors. Good luck finding 105C teflon caps in that same rating.

I should indicate as the amplifier gets up in years. ESR, electrical leakage and just being out of specifications starts happening. Lastly physical leakage. You don't need to replace if it all checks out okay.

Man, that's a great looking amp. I wish Emotiva made all their amps look like that. They're a heck of a lot better looking than the what Emotiva "normal" amps look like. Oh well.

Thanks for the input, guys. Helpful indeed as this unit has some leakage. Emo not servicing the unit anymore, but they recommended someone. I believe he will use the Nichi something caps.
My deal all-in should put me in the $700 range. And I do think it looks so cool, all it really needs to do is shine a little blue light my way!

............................... Emo not servicing the unit anymore, but they recommended someone...................... I would think if its under warranty they are obligated to still service it.

This pdf has the specs for the cap. I do NOT believe Nichicon makes an exact replacement. You are going to find out its the 105C rating in audio grade that is the sticking point. You can get the 85C but I doubt the amp will perform the same. I pretty sure the 105C means teflon.
10,000uF 80V 105C and I believe they are 2 pin snap in.
