I’ve observed that OPUS high resolution files playing in Amazon Music HD will not play in high resolution on Apple devices but revert to Standard (mp3) resolution. Sounds like crap. FLAC files play at their assigned resolution and sound great. Searching the Internet yields little and Apple and Amazon help are black holes. Could it be that Apple does not support OPUS high resolution playback? Anyone heard anything about this?

I only use Amazon Music HD on my Mac, I don’t know what OPUS files are, but my experience is that the Amazon App plays everything in whatever resolution the system is set to. So even in exclusive mode, it doesn’t play the native file format — unless the file happens to coincidentally be the same resolution the system is set to. While I’d prefer it played the native sample rate and depth, I still think it sounds pretty good. That said, pretty annoying Amazon doesn’t seem interested in fixing this..
