My nephews founds my Bro-in-laws records and asked what they were. So to explain, he knew of a record player like that Crosby at a neighbors' garage sale & bought it. He said they were amassed. The youngest tried to put a CD on the TT. lol He pulled out his R to R and the boys sat and watched the VU meters run for an hour. lol.
The oldest called Pat recently and asked him to "ship" him his old LPs from NY to Colorado because he's now into vinyl. Pat told him drive his butt home & get them himself.

At least the new boss coming in January knows about record players. He encourages parent to make sure you have the record player on at night.

ttocs: Please refrain from taking my name in vain! But, but, but, it's Chuck-L-es, not Chuck-i-e. Unless of course you're making claim to everything with the prefix Chuck, in which case, I'll try to watch my mouth in the future.

Seriously, with a name like Chuck (Charles) I have been called every variation in the book including: Chuckku (Japanese relatives and friends ), Carlos (some Latino/Hispanic friends), Chuckie, Chucks, Chuckles, Chucker, Chuckie-Wuckie, Chucks-Badoodle (my mom), Chas, and Baka (stupid) Chuck by my Japanese wife. Some folks simply call me Chuck. Watch your mouth!

This was funny... daughters discover what a record player is and does.. The FATHER almost....looks too young to know what it is either! The mechanics of the old devices for making sound was always alluring. When you’re older you want the best sound but for a youngster, it’s somethin else altogether.

Monkumonku, thanks for sharing this
It was a lot of fun watching their amazed Wao! faces and reactions trying to figure out how that "thing" works
The tech wll be out of this world in the next 10-12 so I have to try that with my granddaughter when she grow's up (she's 2 years old now) 😂

Our kids embrace analog very well. My friend's daughter loves playing records. Records are easy unlike say taping as it is almost immediate gratification, unless you buy prerecorded tapes which are not the easiest to find either. But the mystic of analog hangs in there in our Spotify and Pandora and Tidal and so on world. It is real fun to see their first initial reaction.

The wife just inherited an old AR XA series from her brother that needed some rebuild. It’s been fun working with her to get the thing back up and running again. She’s really into carpentry so I’m thinking a plinth/base re-do is in our very near future.

I visited our local record store a few days ago, and was amazed to find the majority of the shoppers were teenagers or those in their early 20's. Personally, I do not own a TT. I was just visiting to kill time as I waited for my wife to finish her appointment at the tattoo shop. I will say it brought back some cool memories though.

Ya, I went full digital in 1990. Gave away most of my LPs to a real good friend and gave away my old Technics SLB-300 turntable to another friend. It’s kind of cool re-living this again.

Very cute....
You can just read the mind of that girl at the end.... "Uh ohh... daddy's finally gone over the edge...... "
"Mommy..... daddy's gone crazy!"
It reminds me of a comic strip I saw some years ago... I forget where.
(Scene opens... old guy talking to young person...)
Old guy: (hands vinyl album to young guy) Young guy: "What's this?" Old guy: "It's a record album." Young guy: "What's that?" Old guy: "It's a plastic disc... with music on it... sort of like a CD." Young guy: "What's a CD?"
(It used to be funny... now a lot of people wouldn't even get the joke...)
