In only the kind of mess I seem to be able to get myself into.....
I just found someone to repair my VPI Traveler ToneArm. (VPI said it could not be repaired, but offered me a used one for $600 or new one for $1,000). So I have sent it off to be repaired at a very reasonable sum by VAS inc on Cliffwood Rd, in Cliffwood NJ. Ironically (or not) near VPI itslef. Bet there is a story there that I don't know.
So very soon I'll have two turntables. Currently I'm running my Rega Planar 2 with a Hana El cartridge and Tangospinner aluminum subplatter. I have to think the no brainer is having the Hana moved to the VPI Traveler. In Rega terms its a Planar 6 equivalent. Plus the VPI has VTA adjustment so I realistically could run almost any cart on it.
The dilemma is what to do with the Rega at that point. I have the almost barely used Carbon cartridge for it plus the upgraded subplatter. I could either mount the Carbon and sell it or find another cartridge and use it. Would it make sense? I don't need a TT in another part of the house. I actually loathe to sell gear, but I'd hate to have this just sitting around rotting away. Is there any reasonable argument to keep both?
