This summer we’ve spent a lot of time cleaning up our creek and building (mowing) a walking path around our property. The route my wife designed requires four bridges across the creek, the first two were easy, foot bridges made of 4x6 and 2x6, we put each one together in an afternoon during the spring. The third however was more challenging in that it needed to accommodate driving the riding mower across it, which meant it needed to be wider and able to handle more weight. Another consideration was that during the spring we lost a large oak, as I looked at it I wondered if I could use the wood for a project, and sure enough this is where it is. So the top decking is true 2x oak in random widths. As usual, I draw everything in Visio first, that's my 'engineering': The finished product: Finally the full test ... mission accomplished! In context from another part of the walking path

Very cool (reminds me of my first property, which had a stream running behind the house not more than 30 feet away. Most of our property was on the other side of the stream and one former owner had a foot bridge. Unfortunately (the area) made it transitory for teens and other trespassing. We never restored it and moved a few years later. Beautiful in winter...even horseback riders occasionally.

Very nice!
As to your Avatar question "Is it snow yet?" we had a small dump yesterday and it was 11 degF this morning at the house. Brrr... We've had a couple of snows earlier this fall but much less than normal and are still fighting wildfires at Thanksgiving!

Very nice! As to your Avatar question "Is it snow yet?" we had a small dump yesterday and it was 11 degF this morning at the house. Brrr... We've had a couple of snows earlier this fall but much less than normal and are still fighting wildfires at Thanksgiving! Thanks! I’ve seen that Colorado has gotten some snows, but didn’t realize fires were still going, hope they end soon. We had rain just before we built this and actuality had a burn pile for tree trimmings going while we we’re building, but it’s been a very dry summer & fall. I’ll be headed to Park City next week for the ski season, but often make a trip to CO for few days. 11 is getting down there, we woke to a balmy 43, hope you have a good Thanksgiving 🦃
