Since there is no obvious amp for a 6 ceiling atmos setup (a-700 is gone?), I'm thinking about building a custom XPA amp with 3 of the stereo modules. This seems reasonably cost effective?
My main amp is an OOOOLD MPS-1, which seems to be going strong and I see no reason to not use it for my LCR/Surrounds/Rears. My XMC-2 is on the way.
Thoughts?

I have this amp and I love it, amazing amp for the price, I'm not sure why more people don't have it, they will buy 10 year old 5ch used XPA amps for almost as much as this amp is new, for the price it has good power and even XLR connections and sounds amazing to boot, it powers my 5 channels of my system and two outdoor Emotiva speakers in the summer months. Outlaw Model 7000X $979130 watts RMS x 7 (all channels driven simultaneously into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with less than 0.03% total harmonic distortion, A-weighted filter)
200 watts RMS x 7 into 4 ohms (from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with less than 0.06% total harmonic distortion, A-weighted filter)

I was going to do the same thing but then decided I might as well add... since I had the slots left... four of the high power modules... So I ended up building at 10 Channel. I'm not currently using all those channels but they're there when I need them

It’s a shame Emotiva discontinued the original BasX A-800 multi zone amp. With 8 channels (each with their own input) and 50 watts per channel, it was ideal for those who only need an amp to drive Atmos speakers.
Their current multi zone amp won’t work for the purpose (as it only has one common input to feed all eight channels), but if you can find an A-800 used, it’s ideal for your needs.
Otherwise, I’d do the XPA “Six” (3-S) as you can always have Emotiva reconfigure it down the road if your needs grow. I’ve had my “Five” upgraded to a “Nine” and it was a painless process. It also didn’t cost any more than if I’d have purchased the “Nine” to begin with.

For me, here in the states (pre-covid), the entire process took about 10 days.

I'm not currently using all those channels but they're there when I need them I have an XPA that I filled up as a THIRTEEN 1.6s which leaves me an unused stereo module for two more speakers somewhere else. Enjoy!

Originally, I bought it for just four channels and was going to bridge, but that proved unnecessary and it does the job for all eight speakers. The amp is always cold, never heats up.

Yep... the A-800 was my Atmos “bridge” until I could muster up the time, money and energy to have my XPA-5 G3 upgraded to a 9. My brother-in-law is now using it for the same purpose. Not sure why Emotiva changed course, but there is a market for an amp of this type.

Does anyone know how one channel of my MPS-1 compares to one of the single (non stereo) modules on the XPA Gen3?
If it's an upgrade to use the XPA for my LCR, then I could make a 7 channel XPA.
