Feel free to point me to a FAQ if I missed it..
I bought all my Emo gear in 2008/2009, and have only occasionally checked back (good thing for my wallet). I now see that the XPA series is on Gen3 at this point.
What's the differences between Gen1, 2, and 3, other than the appearance? (Edit: I do see that the Gen3 is all very modular.. very cool!)

Here you go - emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/55723/differences-xpa-amplifier-generations Basically, for just the monoblocks, the XPA-1 Gen 1 was a A/B type amp with maybe 10% Class A. The XPA-1 Gen 2 had a lot more Class A bias range (30% or so) but it was switch selectable. The XPA-1 Gen 3 was the same as Gen 2 but it has a Switching type ps instead of a linear transformer type and, as a result weights a lot less.

Gen 3 uses a Class H topology (similar to the XPR series) along with the SMPS.
