So I’ve been comparing these two DACS with my near field setup consisting of a bas-x a-100 and kef q-150s. I can’t put my finger on it, but the Schiit just sounds better. I tried using the b-fi optical to the modi 3, but that sounds the same as just the b-fi by itself.
maybe I just like the analog volume control?
maybe wireless just sucks a little “soul” out.
a little more comparison proves that bass definition and quantity is a lot lower, and the highs are recessed when using the audioengine b-if. I have the need to turn up the volume a lot more to try to get the detail and bass I want. It sounds almost identical to playing music directly through my iPad to the a-100.
