If I have started a thread in the wrong sub-forum please move it to the right place, if it has one. I am curious how the Certified refurbished process would benefit a buyer vs. buying one directly from an original owner. I imagine it is tested and all components are fully functional before it is sold. Otherwise, they wouldn't be offering a one year warranty. That would get expensive for them, if not. But, if an item comes back and has any cosmetic flaws, would they be replaced or would it just not be accepted. I'm really just curious as to what I should expect when purchasing a certified refurbished product and how worried I should be about it dying in 13 months, god forbid. Thanks. I appreciate any response. Even flaming is sometimes informative. Hopefully there is a page on Emotiva's website that covers this that I just haven't found.
Thanks.

I think any major cosmetic damage would be repaired, but I’d expect it to still have a few minor scratches Etc on it. As far as for dying in 13 months, that’s fairly unlikely. The XMC-1 does not have a high hardware failure rate. Basically it if works on day one there is a 99% chance it’s going to work for the next few years short of a lighting strike etc.

I'm not sure exactly what is done in "refurbishment". The refurbished unit I purchased some 18 months ago did not have the latest software in it. Also, I never was able to get the AM radio to output anything. No biggie, I just updated the software and carried on.
