Hi all
My XMC-2 locked up with this message a couple of weeks ago. I was only listening to stereo music with balanced direct. It started locking up so I did several resets. Rocker switch etc. It will boot upm with the "Emotiva" logo and the line at the bottom. Then at the end, the display reads "Err: OSD Innit".
I get no signal from on the TV and the unit is unresponsive. I reached out to Emotiva and they suggested could be an overheating issue. I had to go away for 2 weeks at that time and only came back this morning. The unit has been powered off completely. But still has the same error message.
I have asked Emotiva but obviously its too early for them to answer or they may be off for Christmas. Do you all have any ideas or you think it's an RMA jobbie?
Cheers Lok

My XMC-2 did that after an update failed, I had to send it in for the unit to be re-flashed, turn around was about 9 times faster than when that happened to a Marantz prepro that I owned which the same thing happened to me.
Cheers, Chad

Sorry to hear of your troubles, like creimes I think you may have to send it in for repair. Here’s a loop back test you can do for a little more troubleshooting, though it says XMC-1 it works for the newer processors too. 1. While pressing and holding "E" power button on front of XMC-1, flip power on from the back of the XMC-1. 2. After a couple seconds, list of options should appear on front of unit. Release front power button. 3. IMPORTANT: Before proceeding at this point, please wait a full minute while processor fully boots up. The screen may be active, however, the processor still needs to fully power. 4. After the allotted time has passed, press input 4 on the front panel of the XMC-1 to select the option "Loopback tests". Unit will run tests and will list three pass/fail categories. Please make note of these measurements. 5. After this process is completed, you can then power the unit off on the back and attempt powering it up normally again.

Hey all. Thanks for your inputs. I did the loopback test. The first one ECC-1 loopback failed. I am hoping, maybe if this sequences work, maybe I can reflash it myself. I am from the UK, will be a pain to send to USA.

Hey guys
Thanks for your replies. I ttied the feedback test, says ECC-1 loopback failed.
I hope there may be some way of reflashing from home. Will be a real pain to send it to USA from the UK.

Unfortunately that is a serious error... and does likely indicate a hardware problem that will need to be repaired. (That is almost certain if you see that error consistently or repeatedly). ABOUT THOSE LOOPBACK TESTS..... Unless someone in support instructed you to run them then you probably shouldn't try to read much into the results. One of them is ALWAYS going to fail when you run it at home
(because you don't have the proper "loopback test connector" plugged in...) And a second one will only pass if you wait AT LEAST A FULL MINUTE OR TWO after the unit starts up before running that set of tests... (It won't pass until the unit has fully completed all of its boot-up processes...)
IF THE ERROR IS INTERMITTENT, AND YOU CAN GET INTO THE MENU, YOU CAN TRY RELOADING THE FIRMWARE. Unfortunately, if you can't get the unit to run, or can't get into the menu system, there is no way for you to re-flash the firmware at home.
(At the factory we have special test fixtures that enable us to plug directly into each board and re-flash it that way if necessary.)

The other 2 loopback tests were ok. But as you said, meaningless.
I have not been able to boot properly since it started. Guess I just have to wait for customer suppor to send me an RMA <sigh>

FYI You GOTTA wait the full minute, and maybe just a tad more to be sure that the processor is fully booted. If you only wait 50 seconds it will fail every time. But as others have said, it's almost assuredly a RMA case. sorry

Yes, waited full minute. Same result ECC-1 fail. Rest ok. But looks like hardware problem
