Occasionally I get a faint, high pitched noise, rattling with the music thru the surround speakers when in Dolby Surround. It sounds like snares on a snare drum softly buzzing in sympathy with ambient sound. At first I thought I had a bad speaker, but it comes identically thru several of the surrounds. It never does it in any other mode. I have the XMC-2 with all the latest updates, and Dirac. Noise persists, if I switch off Dirac.
Especially annoying because the XMC-2 defaults to Dolby Surround. I most often get it with UTube. XMC-2 defaults to Dolby surround on Youtube. But utube sends stereo only, so I switch to Stereo mode and the noise disappears. I also have occasionally heard it with Netflicks. Switching to dtx Neural:X also rids the noise.
My conclusion is that it is a software problem with the Dolby Surround decoder, so I switch to Stereo or dtx Neural:X, as appropriate, when I hear it.
Has anyone else suffered thus? Suggestions?
Sincerely /b

Sincerely /b It just happened while I was watching a show using ATV4K. It’s happened before where the front channels have that digitized noise and the fix is to exit the program and go back in. The surround thing was the same, I had to exit the program and go back in and now there is no noise coming out the surrounds.

It only happens sometimes, not all the time.
It was doing it just now, so I turned the XMC-2 off (incl. power switch at the back OFF). On powerup, the noise was gone. So I guess we treat the XMC-2 like Windows; routine reboots to chase away the Ghosts in the Machine.

This has happened to me in ATV4K and playing music from my laptop. It used to be only ATV4K programming like in Netflix where it’s very noticeable. The music is more recent and is more subtle.
