Wow, feels like a bait and switch from Emotiva. Not saying it is, but it sure feels like it. I bought the XPA-5 and the BTM-1 to plug into a MC 700. The plan was buy the amp and blutooth module to connect all my music sources and then use my Emotiva bucks to purchase have the MC 700 immediately. When I went to buy it I was surprised to find it Temporarily Unavailable. It was available a few days before placing my order but OK, a small pia but it happens. I send Emotiva an email asking when it will be available and get back "we don't have a date for availability" with nothing else, just that cryptic message. Then today I see the MC 700 has been discontinued?!?
So my BTM-1 is useless before it has even arrived. I have a 5.1 system that I will use for audio more than video so it is overkill to purchase the $3,000 XMC 2 and the MC 700 was perfect. I just joined the Emotiva family and am just so very disappointed.

30 day return policy right? Send the Bluetooth module back.
Plus they probably will release something in that price class.
Other option being Outlaw Audio who has a $1000 option (which is what I assume Emotiva's will be as well).
Also Anthem and Arcam just released new product. Maybe get left over receiver from them?

Other option being Outlaw Audio who has a $1000 option (which is what I assume Emotiva's will be as well). Also Anthem and Arcam just released new product. Maybe get left over receiver from them? If Emotiva releases something similar in that price range because they are updating the product, I will be a happy camper. I just want an audiophile processor for around $1k or less that offers 5.1 or 7.1. I still have a Meridian Processor that I can use but was looking forward to the Bluetooth feature of the MC-700 as most of my music is now digital as opposed to any CD's. Fingers crossed they have a similar new product coming! |

If the XMC-1 trade in units are out of stock maybe wait for one of them, you could let them know you are wanting one, a better option than the MC700.

What the hell? I bought one in October and have spent the whole time going back and forth with them about problems with it. About half the time when I turn on the system, there’s no sound and I have to turn everything off and back on once or twice till it works. And now, it’s occasionally cutting out the sound after it’s been on awhile. My wife thinks it’s junk and I should just put back to our old AVR.
And the Trim button on the remote, which I really looked forward to in order to occasionally boost the center channel for movies and shows where it’s hard to hear the dialog, is pretty useless since it only displays on the tiny front panel and not overlaid on the video!
On top of which, I was so disappointed by EmoQ that I had to spend another $1,000 to buy a miniDSP ddrc8x8BM to get the features I thought I’d have from your gear! The EmoQ was the main reason I got the MC-700 over the Outlaw 976!

A XMC-1 REFURB will be much better then a mc 700 Well, the XMC-1 is now discontinued too! At least it has a replacement available - the XMC-2. It's a $650 upgrade from XMC-1 to XMC-2 so, if you can find an XMC-1 for a good price, you can beat the $3,000 new price of the XMC-2. What's the DIRAC that comes with it? It shows $99 for upgrade to full so what is the base version missing? |

I've always thought that an affordable processor was something missing in the industry .
Emotiva plugged in with the UMC-1, UMC-200 and MC-700 (albeit, glitchy and a bit outdated) - but they did the job. My old UMC-200 just died on me with an infinite 'Loading ...' loop - but there's nothing to get in it's place now. I'm one of those that like the same brand processor/amplifier - meaning I'd probably be replacing both the processor and amplifier.
I just kinda wish they'd launch an MC-800 or something at a similar price

If I really needed a processor now, I would look at Outlaw or purchase a receiver from Denon/Yamaha/ etc. with preouts to add an amp.

I've been around since the very first processor was introduced by Emotiva. Amps have always been their strength, not processors. Amps are also much simpler products. They have had high ambitions along with struggles with their processors, however I have no regrets owning the XMC-1 and now 2. |

If I really needed a processor now, I would look at Outlaw or purchase a receiver from Denon/Yamaha/ etc. with preouts to add an amp. The Denon x3700h looks interesting in this regard. It is a 9.2 at ~$1,200 and it has received very positive reviews, overall and specifically about the preamp section. Using external amps for the three front channels would leave the power supply and the internal amps plenty of headroom for the surround channels. |

From most of the comments I've read, the XMC-1 & 2 have been their better processors. I haven't owned either of those but have owned a number of of other Emotiva processors with mixed success & reviews. |

If you don't mind buying last years model they can usually be found under $1000. I am greatly considering this. Denon usually release their new models around the end of May. The x3700h is still their latest in this series. Until not long ago the x3600h (2019 model) was still available for well below $1k. Once the 3700h successor is released, its price will go down. Should that be important to you, the "catch" with the x3700h is that only one of the HDMI inputs is 2.1 No doubt this will be "fixed" in the 2021 model (x3800h, perhaps?). However, due to the now well known fire at the AKM factory (manufacturer of the ADC and DAC chips used in many A/V products), not to mention the pandemic, I would not be surprised if the typical releae cycle shifted. |

I have been happy with my MC-700 which is about two years old now. The only complaint I have is that the on-screen volume and other info does not show up on the TV, only on the small MC-700 screen. Will the latest firmware download fix this? Since my unit has been working well besides that, and seeing the above complaints, would I be better off not running the latest firmware update?

Unfortunately no, the reason is you're using the HDMI 2.0a port and the chips they have doing the menu stuff don't work with that. Onscreen will only work with the 1.4 output; It's a design limitation in the hardware.. If you switched to the 1.4 output you will get the onscreen volume/etc. but then you lose 4k if your TV/sources are 4k.
I wouldn't upgrade the firmware if your current firmware is working to your satisfaction.
