Unfortunately no, the reason is you're using the HDMI 2.0a port and the chips they have doing the menu stuff don't work with that. Onscreen will only work with the 1.4 output; It's a design limitation in the hardware.. If you switched to the 1.4 output you will get the onscreen volume/etc. but then you lose 4k if your TV/sources are 4k. I wouldn't upgrade the firmware if your current firmware is working to your satisfaction. That is very helpful information. Good to know. I will stick with what I have. Thanks!

Firmware 3.1.3 didnt ad anything or improve anything on my unit when i tested it so you can easy stay on the old firmware. Will wait on the replacement unit instead and hope they improve it alot and come in at 1200-1400 Usd + sales tax 25% then they come in like Marantz AV7000 series units in Sweden before they raiced the prices on this series. My retailer in Sweden stop sale Emotiva MC700 for 2 years back for they got to much complaints from customers so they didnt think it was worth to have it in stock with the hassle. Thats says something about the quality of the unit

Unit sounds good and I very much like my XMC-1. Hopefully the next product in this price segment is better.

Are Xmc-1 with the 4K Hdmi switch and 5.2 software stable seen both good and bad from users. Dolby vision, Hdr, Hdcp 2.2 working flawless? Also afraid if something happens with a refurbished unit not cheap to ship it to USA and then Vat 25% and toll fees 2.5%. Thats why i Think they go to retailers. Asked support about warranty possible against retailer but then ofcourse they need to sell it to me. I will not buy a refurbished unit with warranty in USA, have been another thing if it was new. Will wait for Mc700 replacement unit and hope it come near Xmc-1 instead with similiar audio quality and functions for 1200-1400 Usd with full warranty and at my retailer in Sweden.

I too really hope that Emotiva will release a new multichannel prepro in that price range.
The problem is that such devices have become really complex and just like smartphones and computers can become virtually obsolete in a couple of years.
Development costs must be high and Emotiva is not a big company, they have to be careful with where they put their money and engineering resources.
I do not think it is a coincidence that most of the prepros out there are in the high-end price range, where the margin and profit justifies the initial investment.
I hope Emotiva can pull it off. IMHO they tried too hard to keep the MC-700 price as low as possible to be in line with the BasX series.
Of course in hindsight it is easy to say and who am I to tell Emotiva what to do, but if they had targeted a price just under $1,000 it may have been a much better unit and still about half the price of their next prepro in their lineup.
Just my $0.02

Just my $0.02 In my mind Emotiva stick with Cirrus chip to long to get price down. Already from Umc-1, Umc-200 then Mc700. UMC-200 also have trouble with different audio codecs changes that you get audio pops in speakers like switching channels on tv or cable box. Thats why i didnt bought that one and a used Marantz Av7005 instead but then i bought a 4K Oled from LG and needed Hdmi that got the signal trough. Then i checked for good priced processor and the Mc700 fitted my budget. Learn the tweaks and the workarounds with the unit. So i hope they ditch Cirrus chip and Focus on Sound quality instead. Its better to price new unit for 1500 Usd if needed then cut corners and get bad reputation havent seen anyone to recommend Mc700 as a new unit.

Just noticed this was discontinued. From the looks of things, I got one before all the delays started (then discontinued).
I was in here looking for firmware updates, as the sound vanishes from time to time, forcing a restart of the unit to bring it back. Weird; but apparently, this is common. Wish I'd known that before purchasing. I'm on the latest. Oh well.
I had the UMC-1, which performed well, but was also a bit glitchy. It finally went out completely (won't even power on), and suspiciously my projector died at that very same time (the projector's HDMI input went out... which the processor was connected to -- perhaps a coincidence?). Both were due to be replaced, but I prefer to choose the time myself, rather than let hardware determine it for me.
With upgrade for life (a GREAT benefit of being an Emo customer, thanks for that), I really had no choice but to give the MC-700 a try. I couldn't touch anything remotely decent for the price I paid for this unit. I was hoping that Emo had time to fix things from the UMC-1, but apparently some glitchiness is timeless.
Overall, it's a decent unit, though I am a bit disappointed with the D/A conversion for audio CDs (I have a Sony Bluray SACD player that only has HDMI out). It's rather crappy sounding, to be honest. Movies seem okay, though to my ears (which aren't nearly what they once were), the dialogue is a bit muffled, and the trim button on the remote doesn't show up on screen when a movie is playing so I can adjust to hear better. It's not as open and clean sounding as I had hoped it would be. Acceptable for movies, though I will consider another trade up when I have the funds.
I still have the original XPA-2 amp, which is a champ, as well as the UPA-5. I still love them! Not sure I'll really ever see the need to upgrade these, at least with my existing speaker setup. Emo knows amplifiers.
I guess I'm not surprised the mc-700 has been discontinued, now that I see my problems are not unique. Hopefully, the next gen is better, though admittedly a hard sell for me, after two glitchy processors. It will also be a hard sell to the wife, to upgrade what I just purchased a few months ago.

I was finally ready to buy an MC-700, too. XMC-2 is way overkill for my needs. Looks like my UMC-200 will soldier on for a while longer, or I'll have to up-budget for a Denon x3700.

As a follow up, I did set up the system manually (i.e., speaker distance and judicial use of trim), and it's better, but still not up to par with the UMC-1. It's passable for movies, but the DACs don't seem up to decoding high quality 2-channel audio.
Not sure what my next step is. I can live with it for movies, but it's a dual-purpose room (music/movies). I'm missing 50% (my Emo CD player bit the dust, unfortunately... a GREAT sounding unit, fwiw). $600 is a bit steep for the new Emo CD player (especially after spending the money on the Sony SACD/Blu-Ray player), though I'm sure it sounds fantastic, if the ERC-1 is any indicator.

Seen that Emotiva talked about the replacement unit in March then they go silent because of not destroy sells of available units.
Then he sayed Summer 2021 released should we guess august/september if we are lucky never seen Emotiva hit a goal in timeline that's why they got more considered to announce anything before it's done.
Anyway i decided to wait for the replacement unit and use my Mc700 that i have had soon 4 years.

There seems to be something working in the BasX line to replace the MC 700, but as we know Emotiva’s development time is always a little extended. But I do think a $1000ish 7.4.1 processor would be a game changer for Emotiva.

Emotiva is not afraid to drop a product and release a replacement. I'm sure there are reasons they don't make these announcements on the Lounge or in a podcast. It's not necessarily a bad thing to upgrade on a regular basis. I do understand your frustration.
I do think more of a presence on the Lounge from others members (Keith seems to handle the load) of the Emo Family would be a big benefit to the members. Dispelling fact from fiction and being as open as they possible can would go a long way.
