Just received an MC-700, ver 3.1.3. Looks like I may have gotten the last one, pretty dumb decision by me! But the real question is. I have a dish satellite remote. When I program the remote for the MC-700, it will operate the volume, and mute, and will turn the MC-700 off. But it won't turn the MC-700 back on! Is this a problem or a feature? So now I'm trying to decide if I just return the 700. I really only want/need 7.1 at the most, due to no space in my room for more speakers. And I have some cool amps, mostly ones I built that I want to use, so not interested in a receiver. So the 700 basically does everything I want it to do, except work with my dish remote. Also, if I return it, what to buy. The outlaw 976 is a reasonable option, but it is $300 more and isn't really much newer tech. Of course Emo might come out with an updated version, so maybe I wait a bit to see. Not sure what to do. The show stopper might be getting it to work correctly with my remote so I don't have to use two remotes to turn the thing on. Thanks, gabo

I have Directv and have had to replace remotes due to failures due to use. They were very inexpensive. Worth a shot. www.solidsignal.com/satellite-tv/dish-network-remotesYou may also want to call Dish and ask for a replacement remote. You will likely have to pay for one, but you never know. You could also pick up a Logitech Harmony remote and control the rest of your gear.... www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-harmony-665-10-device-universal-remote-black/5852832.p?skuId=5852832

Good points all. I actually have another remote as I have a dish in one room and the joey in the other. So I could temporarily swap the remotes and see what happens. Was just curious as to whether anyone else had this problem. I would think the "off/on" IR that is sent out is the same, just a toggle.
I was surprised when "off" worked but "on" didn't, I've never had that situation before.

Tried the other remote, same thing happened. Thanks I would think this would be simple. Unfortunately I don't have Dish. I've had Directv since 1995. If no one else chimes in....maybe a call to Emotiva support? They may direct you back to Dish, but worth a shot. To me this sounds like a Dish issue, but can't be certain. if it was me, I would pick up the least expensive Harmony remote and give it a try. If it works you have a solution. If it doesn't, you can return the remote.
