Today I'm running Dirac (full) for the 2nd time. When setting channel levels, options are low, medium & high. When I select "low" output, my 75db levels are increased to +11 to +12 Then I select medium level it's really LOUD but gain levels are the same @ +11 to +12, I did not "0" them out. Is "low" ok to use? I don't understand why XMC offers 3 levels.
Also test at #3 mic position says volume too low, all I did was change mic position.

Don't try to make your processor output 75dB as a mystical "reference level" quite so stringently. The actual SPL doesn't matter. It is all about getting every channel the same. When level matching channels, you can make them all the same volume at 61db, or at 74.5db or at 83dB on your SPL meter The actual SPL on the sound meter doesn't matter as long as they are all the same. As a general rule, don't use the positive +Xdb to boost audio channels. (Although Emotiva can factor this in with all their processors as they have built in anti-clipping attenuation) Just select the low, medium or high setting that is closest to 75 dB and adjust the quietest channel level to 0dB on the XMC-1. All of the other channels will require a -XdB setting to level match to this. The easiest way of doing this is start with Front Left at 0dB setting at XdB on your sound meter and the level correct all channels so they all measure the same XdB. Then look at your level settings. If your most positive setting is +4.5db on your centre speaker, reduce this to 0dB and reduced ALL other channels by the same 4.5dB (The FL should now be at -4.5) Run though the channels again to make sure they are all at the same SPL and you are done. NB, with the subwoofer, it is better to leave the XMC-1 processor's subwoofer trim at 0dB and instead adjust the volume on the subwoofer amplifier.

Thank you Markc Prior to your post, I did readjust levels lower with Radio Shack SPL meter 4-5db. I've always run my reference hot with other products, no issues. When I got to mic position #7, Dirac (Full) errored out all 6 test saying clipping & (something?), could not proceed. Three failed Dirac runs Saturday. I went to dirac, com, but no help found. Does Emotiva have a Dirac troubleshooting page somewhere? What I did find was mostly Windows/Mac program issues. I'll give it another try today.
