Hey folks,
I've been trying to trouble shoot ARC (following instructions elsewhere in these forums) with a new Sony TV. My first question is whether this scenario should work?: I'm running a single HDMI cable from the Sony eARC HDMI to the ARC HDMI output on the Emotiva. The Sony TV handles all the streaming via build in Android TV. I'd like the TV audio to pass to the XMC-1 for output. Right now I cannot get audio to pass through to the XMC-1. (it does seem odd that the the audio is an input stream to a port marked 'output'?).
The Sony TV does detect when the XMC-1 is plugged in and pops a message to configure ARC. During or after the configuration, no Audio is heard on the XMC-1. Audio outputs fine over optical.
XMC-1 has CEC enabled, is using F/w .15 and has the 2.0b board.
Thanks!

I have the exact same issue and also with a new (2020) Sony TV. I have CEC disabled but do have the new HDMI board.

To anyone with failed ARC, here is how I do it. I don't have the XMC-1 anymore since trading for the XMC-2, but it seems to be similar non-connecting behavior.
I just went through this today after updating the firmware in the Sony tv. Couldn't connect ARC afterwards even though it did before the update.
Enable HDMI CEC Power in the processor. It shouldn't hurt to also enable Audio To TV. Disconnect power to the tv and the processor. Seriously, PULL THE PLUG. Disconnect all the other HDMI inputs to the processor. The Sony tv has an incredible and insatiable appetite to seek any and all CEC devices no matter if they are setup with disabled CEC or not. This is really annoying to me.
After power has been off for at least a minute, plug in the power and turn on the processor. Switch to HDMI ARC. Turn on TV and start streaming something, should work. Mine did.

I've been battling with this ever since I bought my 2020 Sony TV. Un-plugging and plugging back in will get things working most of the time, but it doesn't seem to have a lasting effect.
I went out and bought a Roku, and that works most of the time, but I would much rather be using the native apps on the TV.
Just did a complete re-boot and unplugged everything else. Got about 30 seconds of good audio before it started cutting in and out again :-(

Ok, I've had some success now. I unplugged the 2021 Sony OLED TV and XMC-1 for a much longer amount of time (about 30 minutes), and also deleted the cache and a bunch of apps from the TV (I don't think freeing up TV memory was really part of the solution, but I'm mentioning it just in case it contributed to the fix).
In the past, I had the TV set up to power-cycle every night along with my router. I forgot that I took this away while my XMC-1 was out for a (warranty) board replacement. I'm going to go back to having the TV re-boot every night, and see if that gives me a long-term solution.
