Bought a soundbar for the TV. I get so aggravated with crappy, unintelligible dialogue with some movies & TV shows. It seems audio to some mixing engineers is about the effects & background music being more important than the dialogue. Some shows are so bad that I turn on the subtitles. ENOUGH. When watching the news, didn't want to fire up the XMC system but the Sony TV speakers were fingernails on a chalkboard & didn't work. So, I picked up a ZVOX soundbar and can understand dialogue again. (even with Dirac, I had trouble with some shows) I considered building XMC curves for preset 2 to fix it, but like my settings as is. Wife said, "You can hear the difference between mp3 and FLAC but you can't hear speech? You spend $thousands changing out components for the finer details and you spend a couple hundred bucks on a soundbar? Are you nuts?" Ya, she ripped me a new one, laughingly. But she had to agree the dialogue is so much better. ZVOX uses hearing aid technology to filter background & boast speech and it works. Read the reviews from many people making the same complaints I had. None of us want to admit that our systems don't do everything perfect. The unit is far from what I would prefer. No, I'm not nuts, the end result works on those lousy audio recordings. Recommend for those folks fighting to hear crappy dialogue, better.

Some soundbars nowadays are way better than they used to be. They used to be sooo very bad. Now they've gotten better. But you still won't catch me with one!

I have only come across one that was really good - Sennheiser AMBEO 5.4.1 soundbar is very good indeed. But then it is $2.5k..

My center channel configuration, coupled with the XMC, is putting out clear, natural, intelligible dialogue. You need to be flexible with it of course as source material rendering varies quite a bit. I think it works as well as it does because I dumped all the βrulesβ and added a dose of common sense.

Been using a soundbar with my LGC7 for a few years now. We use it for normal TV viewing so I don't have to fire up the system. So much better than the TV's speakers.

How much effort does it take to fire up your system?π I push a different button on the Harmony remote. Definitely a valid reason to avoid that
