Has anyone used a tube preamp with their Stealth 8 and achieved a noticeably different sound? If so, please share your experience.

Answered my own question. Yes, it sounds great with tubes! As suspected, midrange is warmer and highs sparkle in a different way.

Whenever tubes are brought into the signal chain, WARMTH is the overriding description that typically pops up and the reason for that is an old story.
Nothing wrong with it whatsoever if the colorization of the sound is pleasing to your ears. Lots of people go for that.
More apparent when it’s coming from the amp. stage.

To my left is a junction box to connect the headphones. I don’t recall what’s behind me. I was in a quiet booth taking a hearing test. |

The last time I was in that booth the results that came back were NOT what I wanted to hear….(no pun intended) It’s not at all terrible (some decline in my right). My hearing was so acute that a ticking watch 8 feet away on a dresser would make me get up and shove it in a drawer…those days are over! |

The last time I was in that booth the results that came back were NOT what I wanted to hear….(no pun intended) It’s not at all terrible (some decline in my right). My hearing was so acute that a ticking watch 8 feet away on a dresser would make me get up and shove it in a drawer…those days are over! Had to take one every year while in the USAF......things would shift every year a tad, but I'm lucky after 25 years being on and around C-130's I can still enjoy music, albeit loudly......according to the neighbor......but, whatever.  |

Maybe you were on the 130 when I was “under it”! Spent many a day anchored behind Constitution Island with my little “go fast” boat. We would see the gunships and 130’s overhead… quite a show…..
