Hi all,
I am getting ready to buy some Emo amps to go with a preprocessor for a 7.2.4 Atmos system. I have searched the forum for answers to this question but no luck.
What size power (watts) are needed for the front L/C/R as well as the surround speakers and the Atmos speakers. Do they all need the same amount of power (watts)?
Also if anyone has any recommended unit configurations that would be great.
Thanks.
Brad

What (if anything) do you have now for comparison? There are tons of options for what you are doing. Generally speaking your front speakers L/C/R will take the most power and the other surround and Atmos speakers will take less. It’s why you can run an XPA-11 with three high wattage blades for the LCR, and four stereo blades for the surrounds and Atmos speakers. It’s a simple one box option that has a lot of power.

Thanks David.
I have Triad Silvers for the surrounds and Atmos. I have not yet selected the fronts.
I think you are confirming what I thought - the surrounds do not need the same power as the fronts.

For reference I run the DR-2 amp for my front two speakers and a XPA-9 for everything else. And I only have the DR-2 because I listen to a decent amount of two channel music. For just HT use the XPA-11 would do very well. emotiva.com/collections/amps/products/xpa-11-gen3

I would make a decision on LCR before choosing an amp.

I'm running a 7.2.4 system using three Emo amps. I actually could just use the two XPA amps but since I've got a 5175 and it looks good in the rack I'm still using it. Here's my set-up:
XPA Gen3 6-6-0 (LCR bi-amped) XPA Gen 3 8-4-2s (SR, SBR, SBBL, SL) BAS X A-5175 (Atmos ceiling front, Atmos ceiling rear)

I waiting for the person to post the OP should buy 11 DR-1s Well if the speakers are all bi-ampable I say go for 22 DR-1's for the best in performance

Fronts should be chosen to TIMBRE MATCH the rest of 'em.......In worst case, you can hear the handoff from front to side / rear. And I would suggest going 1 step UP in the line for L / R speakers while the center to be chosen from that part of the menu..... Several hurdles yet to go......To Sub or NOT to Sub.....than a dozen setup options and that pesky DIRAC thing which is over on another thread to the tune of OVER 160 Pages and counting....

Of course, LACK of information on the Triad site is a little offputting to me......A sensitivity number would give a starting place for amplifier needed....I don't even know if they are 4 ohm OR 8 ohm or 'other impedance'....?? I'd consider the BassX A2 (see thread for review) and get a bunch of 'em.......ESPECIALLY if speakers are a common HT rated 8 OHMS......
