Gotta say the comparison to the Parasound is not quite fair....to EITHER. Parasound features included balanced inputs (adapted single ended) and the level control with Loop Out is a great way to run ONE cable to the amp and while putting the amp behind a speaker, configure for biamp.....which I do.
The A23 was 2X+ the EMO amp while the new A23+ is closer to 3X......
Downside? Parasound has awful speaker terminals. Crowded and of only OK quality.
I used CROWN gear in the mid-70s at work......We used a DC300 to run a 'vibration table' for reliability testing of semiconductor parts. Comparing new to old would be a ridiculous exercise.
Would I be tempted to go with an A2? Maybe. Depending on partnering gear, and probably not with 4ohm speakers. But that's just ME. For 'starters' or for someone who is not wrapped up in minutia or 'critical' listening? No problem. If I had a summer home or lived in an apartment? Sure. And I'll admit to being unfriendly to most Home Theater receivers and hte idea in general. Most setups I've seen are severaly comporomised.
Decent and fairly thorough review. I wouldn't be upset about the inability to 'bridge', either. Only 3db or so increase At Best while SQ nearly always suffers.

I am looking closely at the A2, if it is as grand at least as the A300 was, it is a good day.

Until Boom reviews them, all other opinions are meaningless.

Until Boom reviews them, all other opinions are meaningless. The Trick, IMO, with reviewers is to find one you substantially AGREE with or DISagree with. That way you can clock what the reviewer says in comparison to what YOUR values are. For example? I don't find bridging to ever be an issue. Usually sacrifices SQ and places constraints on the impedance of the speakers usable. So I ignore those comments. I don't know of many or any bridged amps which would be OK with my 4ohm panels. Not to say they don't exist, just not on my radar. Reviews are No Substitute for hearing for YOURSELF. All reviewss are 'good'. Not all equipment is equally 'good'. So it would appear the job of the reviewer is to get the most out of any given piece...be it electonics or speakers. And find the 'value' in it. Close reading helps in the evaluation of the review.

As soon as Emotiva came out with the BasX A2, it went on my 2 ch build list. All my speakers are 90db or better efficient, @ 160w/250w per channel & 29db gain, A/B, price, don't see any downside. I'm not sold on class D for a 2 ch music system... yet.

I'm not sold on class D for a 2 ch music system... yet. I owned ASP series B&O modules in a PSAudio 'integrated'..... And long term satisfaction was NOT there. My less-powerful Parasound amps SEEM (psychological?) to play louder and have as good or better dynamics. Much has been said about 'newer / better, but the same topology is still used. I suspect rearranging the deck chairs..... If your 90db sensitive speakers are 8 ohms, I don't see much of an issue......
