I could not find any info on this so, I will explain my blunder...
I inadvertently disabled the front control buttons AND the IR input to the XMC-1. Could not control the unit at all and even the power button would not work. I powered the unit down with the rear panel switch, and now I am dead in the water. I cannot turn it on with remote or manually. Yikes!
HELP!

From the owners manual... “ If you accidentally become locked out of the XMC-1 by disabling all controls, including the remote control, you can override this feature and access the setup Advanced Menu by HOLDING THE ENTER BUTTON DOWN WHILE PRESSING THE MENU BUTTON (both on the front panel). This will allow you to enter the setup Advanced Menu and re-enable the controls.”

Well, the note in the owners manual " HOLDING THE ENTER BUTTON DOWN WHILE PRESSING THE MENU BUTTON" did nothing. Needless to say, I was dismayed and awaiting some insight from the folks here or a response from Emotiva CS. Well, I turned on my TV and lo and behold the XMC-1 powered up! The remote IR lockout had been disabled and all was working well. The HDMI/ARC settings must have been such that the XMC recognized that signal and powered up. My XMC-1 HDMI/ARC settings are enabled, but not set for Power On. Oh well, Id say I learned something that makes sense, but that is not the case. Life goes on...

The instructions I posted do not automatically “ unlock” the lockout... they only give you access to the Advanced menu on the front panel display so that you can scroll through and manually turn off the lockout setting yourself. In fact, all of those instructions must be performed using the front panel buttons and controls. Not sure why this wouldn’t have worked for you (as you’re not the only one who has accidentally locked themselves out), but I’m glad you found a solution...

Is it possible that the HDMI connection was preventing the unit from turning on? Prior to turning on the TV, I could not get the unit out of stand by to even get to the Advanced menu? Mystery. I still have a request into Customer Service. Curious as to what they say.

When you totally lock yourself out, the XMC-1 will not respond to any commands from the remote or from the front panel buttons. When you press the Menu button (while also holding down the Enter button) on the front panel as noted, it will bring up the "Advanced" menu on the front panel display (not from HDMI). From there, you can use the front panel cursor buttons to scroll down and disable the lock setting. Once you have turned off the lock setting, your XMC-1 will return to normal operation. But in your case, a CEC command apparently "woke up" your XMC-1 which allowed you to successfully get into the menu system and accomplish the same thing.

Ok so something new learned that I don’t think is in the manual! I’ve never had CEC activated on my unit.

Dead, no response. Only came on when I turned on the TV. As I said, mystery?

That being the case, then yes... it’s absolutely a mystery. Please post what support has to say so that others might benefit from your experience.
