Hello everyone, I have been reading articles on speaker placement and have not come to a final decision yet. I want to make some outriggers for the T2s that will allow me to back the spikes out and move the speakers to the final location before dropping the spikes. Then I will do final adjustments.
My speakers are 30" from the side walls and 18 to 19" to the back corner of the speaker. I would be interested to know where everyone else found was the sweet spot. I do realize the locations will vary with the room shape and size.
I will be making compromises because my room is not ideal but would be interested to know where people locate them if they have a large enough room.
Good: Flush-mounted or as close to wall as possible (see manufacturer recommendations) Okay: Up to 1 m (3′-3″) Avoid: 1-2.2 m (3′-3″ to 7′-3″) Good: Over 2.2 m (7′-3″)
I don't think the T2s are going to do well flat against the wall? That leaves me the up to 1 meter option in my room.

I’ve only had them a day, but my new T2s are 15” from the back wall, 6’ apart, with approx 8-10’ to the listening position. This is basically the same setup I’ve been using for the Stealth 6s, and works really well in my semi octagonal room. I think all the different angles and high ceilings makes my room easier to set up.

I found the T2s seemed to take a little time to loosen up and sound better after a week or two of listening. What do you think of the T2s?

[/quote] I love them so far... but like you said, I need to give them some break in and redo all my Dirac measurements.

I found a link to a really good speaker set up vid here but now I can’t seem to find it. Have you seen any threads you could point me to?

As Ciccio said on Seinfeld: "This'a one". Go To 18:04 for the nitty gritty. This is what I used to find a very unusual placement setup with fantastic results. But, 'ya gotta do it his way to get the good result, even though it seems goofy and tedious.

So after doing the speaker set up in the video above, I ended up with my T2s 20" from the back wall (still approx 6' apart - dictated by the room). I ran a single point Dirac measurement just to get something to listen too, so now I just need time alone to do some critical listening. I 'll report back when I have more to share!

I finally gave the speaker placement procedure a go and ended up at 19" on the left and 16" on the right.
I was able to identify 4 locations on the left speaker that I felt gave nice base reproduction.
I had trouble getting the singer centred and may give it another try later. My setup is going to be moving locations shortly, so I did not fight with it too much.
I made a speaker sled for moving the speakers. I left the spikes on and tipped the speaker back enough to slide the sled into the back spikes, then I tipped it forward and walked the speaker onto the sled. The sled is a piece of 1/4" melamine with a nice big handle on the front. It slides well on the carpet and may work well on a hard surface.
I, too, will need to live with it for a few days to decide but so far I think it sounds good.

I replied something similar in another thread... but my vinyls seem to have had more of an improvement than any other medium. Strange that I would hear that over everything else I listen too. The hi-Res flies and hi-res concert Blu-ray’s sound fantastic too, don’t get me wrong. I just seem to notice the improvement on LPs more. Kinda strange I know, but I’m certainly not complaining. Just really enjoying listening to my music collection again.

All my music is FLAC files now with some high-res stuff. I am not able to notice the difference between the high-res and regular FLAC. I think the remastering on some of the high-res stuff is better, but on some I prefer the original recording.
I came across a good deal on a lightly used Carver A-753x power amp, so I am also enjoying my music collection more these days. I was previously using a Yamaha RX-A2010, and it worked well, but everything sounds a little more detailed now
