I bought a cheap dac off of amazon: FX-Audio DAC-X6 and I'm thinking about upgrading. I notice the big ego+ has a headphone feature just like the cheap dac but it also has a one key feature that has got my attention: no eternal power source. Which means I can use it with my Motorola android phone.
But, does it work on a Linux computer? My cheap dac works with no problems.

You can try lsusb to see the exact Vindors and Device ID of your DAC (presuming that you're connecting via USB) and then compare that against the set of USB Vendor/Device IDs in sound/usb/quirks.c. That's where you'll find all of the stuff that's currently used to map out USB DAC capabilities such as DSD, etc.
