Roon users -
I have my Mac Mini Roon core connected to my preamp/dac via usb.
I see lots of discussion on Roon about streaming Roon wirelessly from the Roon core to an endpoint like a Raspberry Pi or a streamer.
The direct core to dac method sounds wondrous to me, and having another component wirelessly in between seems unnecessary.
Your take on this matter?

Core-to-DAC is great if you can sit your core right next to the DAC and it's quiet enough not to intrude, and it's the only listening point in your house. But what if you have, say, four systems in your house? Each needs an endpoint and you only need one core. That's my use case. My core sits in a space with my internet modem and routers all by itself, and I use endpoints at each listening position.

Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere but ran into this very recently. Looks like Roon is exploitable: www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/qnap-warns-of-ech0raix-ransomware-attacks-roon-server-zero-day/Wonder what other audio gear is exploitable. Here I was back when working w/ Dirac Live thinking the software was plagued w/ gremlins never thinking a person/hacker w/ nothing better to do was behind the big dip in the frequency response
