Hi all. This is my first post on the lounge. Unfortunately, a "need help" post. Something wrong has happened to my XMC-1 today. During the day while the XMC-1 was ON and idling, I have heard a sudden loud popping sound from the room the device is located. The popping came again and again. I entered the room and figured out that all the channels were popping. I tried to lower the volume on the XMC-1 - no effect still popping with the same volume even at -100 on the knob. I turned the XMC-1 off - popping stopped. It is still there anytime I turn on the XMC-1 on every channel including sub-woofers and headphones. The device is on the latest 1.4b board FW - 4.1.
The link to the popping cycling pattern is attached - recorded with the phone. The troubleshooting I did so far : * Sometimes popping start immediately once the software is up ,sometimes after 1-3 minutes of idling or music or tuner.
* As mentioned - the volume level has no effect on the loudness of the popping. The popping continues even on MUTE.
* Input change has no effect - the popping is still there even on the tuner. * Speakers change has no effect - popping is there even on the headphones. * Factory reset has no effect - done twice. * Disconnected all the HDMI cables/usb/analog input/network cable - still popping only with the pre outs occupied. * Took the power off for a while - still popping.
There was no any prior popping whatsoever and nothing unusual happened lately with the device. I have been reading a lot of stuff regarding the popping/clicking issues with the XMC-1 but on different circumstances. Have anyone experienced anything like that ?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Any help would be much appreciated. Does your amp turn on with the XMC-1? Sounds like a power amp issue, maybe capacitors. Trying turning the amp on without the XMC and see if you still get popping.

Trying turning the amp on without the XMC and see if you still get popping. I've got several power amps. No triggers involved. Same popping on every single channel on any amp even with the headphones connected to the XMC-1.

Definitely seems like a probable capacitor issue.
Is the popping "rhythmic" in nature? Pops at a fairly constant repeating cycle?

Looks like it speeds up a bit if I feed some music in. The evidence is mounting for the cause to be capacitors, including the popping continuing while muted. I have Krell amp that, without anything connected to any input, began sending a hissing sound to the speaker while the amp was in standby mode. Luckily it was under warranty because they replaced all the capacitors. The amp was only a few years old at the time.

Or hear them in the speakers when headphones are plugged in?

Do you have your configuration saved internally and on a USB? Try a factory reset

There IS a fuse in there….I wonder….

ValuesAll fuses are 20mm x 5mm 250 V time delay type: T250The main AC power fuse is a T250 3.15A (250 V / 3.15 amps)F1 on the power supply board is a T250 250mA (250 V / 250 mA)F2 on the power supply board is a T250 4A (250 V / 4 amps

This is interesting. In theory, is it possible that blown fuse may cause this kind of a PoPPiNG behavior on all channels (including the headphones) ?

Certainly worth putting the question to technical support.

A blown fuse in a power circuit would stop the power.

A blown fuse in a power circuit would stop the power. Of course…..considering the lower value fuse (2) on one of the boards. The main line fuse is in the cord receptical

Meanwhile I have left the device disconnected from power for 2 days and turned it on now to check how's it going. There was no "popping" for about first 3 minutes, then it started from all the channels at a slower rhythm (frequency) - about 4-5 seconds between the first and the second "pop", and with every other pop the rhythm got a bit faster and after several "pops" the rhythm has settled on the ~190 milliseconds - about the same as the OP attachment. The device stops "popping" once put on stand by with the "Lowest Power" option, BUT it still "pops" with the "Video Remains On" standby.

Just about guaranteed a capacitor, but that doesn’t help.
