I am getting an XPA5 amplifier delivered tomorrow which will be replacing an A-5175 amplifier in my home theater system. I have previously calibrated my system when I originally installed the A-5175. Should I re-calibrate it after installing the XPA5? I wasn't sure if amplifier power differences would require me to go through the re-calibration process again. Thanks.

I would re do the calibration. Mostly just because there may be a slight difference in base line dB gain from the two amps.

Both amplifiers have a very flat frequency response and likewise a very clean phase response. Therefore there should be no need to re-run room correction.

There probably WILL be 'slight differences'.... which makes the real question, in several parts. 1. How REPEATABLE are your measures with your setup? 2. Will such slight differences actually matter? 3. What is the +- error of ANY given measurment? 4. Will any differences PERCEIVED be to the good or bad?

Trust your ears. Like Keith said, on paper there shouldn't be any difference. Did your last amp break, or did you "upgrade" to hear no difference? Only you can decide if your system needs "tweeking".
