I've been around this block half a dozen times in 40+ years in this ......Hobby? Vocation? Avocation? Religion? Obsession?
I've just got ONE word of advice.
Do NOT let 'Perfect' ....(whatever That is!) be the ENEMY of 'Good'......
Like the guy who rejects any potential GF which does not fill a long list of 'requirements'...from perhaps height / weight....to education and hair color to any number of 'roadblock' issues.... All the while rejecting MANY very fine candidates who would be fine mates.
Same goes in Stereo / Home Theater. Going ROUND AND ROUND with upgrade after upgrade and never getting 'there'....wherever the heck THAT is. Running DIRAC or some other 'correction' (it DOESN"T correct the room, now does it?) before every movie to make sure it's 'perfect'....
That way lies unfulfilled madness.
Certainly have FUN. But I reached the satisfaction point and wont' drive myself nuts over any of this....I HOPE..... though I WOULD still (bucket list item?) like to builda good amp kit and hear what it can do. And while I"ve been very satisfied with Panels for decades.....I might like to try something DIFFERENT, not necessarily better, but different.
I'm not advocated settlling for '2nd best', either. But as Dirty Harry once said? 'A man's gotta know his limitations'....and in the Audio sense? When you are near the top of YOUR PERSONAL curve and where it would take some Obscene or Profane amount amount of $$$ to get that last couple percent improvement.
Cheers, all....

Agree because the problem with perfect is how to define it. We typically define it by some standard we or someone else has created. Perfect to me might not be perfect to the next person. Only one has been perfect!! Is anything ever perfect? That means whatever it is can not be any better. Says who?

Perfect is only good till you want something else.

Perfect is only good till you want something else. Which of Course is NOT perfect. A sliding scale, perhaps? Just my opinion, but a futile pursuit.....

My system is perfect 🤩 I got it down Pat 🤩 I’m all dialed in 🤩 I’m at the top of my game 🤩 Nothing left to do save kick 🦵 back and bask in my glory 🤩. That’s EXACTLY when the next thing you weren’t planning on blows up 🤬

It's a hobby. It's fun. Until it isn't. Then get a new hobby!

Yep. As a friend of mine once said, "Audio is a series of compromises. The key is to discover what compromises you are willing to live with."
Enjoy the music!

I think I'm definitely about "listening to the gear". Perhaps someday that will change.

But you know, sometimes all the fun is in the journey, not the destination. /b

I bought a Denon "receiver" that probably got me excommunicated from the group. I use to weekend race a 17 ft tunnel boat, loved it. Always wanted MORE POWER. Did my own engine work. When it started costing $thousands to gain 1-3mph, the thrill was gone. Sold it Then returned to my longest hobby- audio & music and it's still cost $thousands for little return on "investment". It's "good enough" when the wife says it is. Or you buy her more shinny, sparkling objects and another box to put them in.

But you know, sometimes all the fun is in the journey, not the destination. /b A journey without destination? Lost.....IMO. In audio? Some idea of your goals are important. Not just 'new' or 'better' or 'latest'...... An evolution in goals is GOOD, too....Just keep your eye on the ball.
