I've found Emotiva remotes frustrating, you have to aim them carefully at the XMC or you are ignored. In contrast, my Roku, Samsung and FireStick work reliably, no matter where I aim them, probably because they use Bluetooth or something. (Note that my XMC is out in the open, facing the viewer; it isn't hidden from sight). So I bought one of these infrared repeaters. This made the EMO remote more reliable; but only if the emitter led was placed accurately near the XMC's IR "eye". I couldn't find the location of the IR "eye" in the XMC documentation, so it took trial and error to locate it. This solution still wasn't very satisfactory, it was still fussy. Finally, I remembered the XMC had a "IR in" connector on the back panel. I couldn't find any documentation about it either. But I took a chance and plugged a cable from the IR repeater directly into that XMC "IR in" connector. It worked! Finally my XMC remote works every time.

My subwoofer has that rear IR connector for the same reason though in my setup I’ve got a clear shot at the front. I commend you on your effort to make that Emo. remote usable. I never took it that far because I can’t lift it. Then I got some help….
