Yes......I see what you mean. If I had access to a LOT of data? I could parse thru it and make a few conclusions. And yes, AGAIN.....better questions get better answers. I'd like 'year over year' numbers for the last decade, to start. Camera sales.....at least the Mirrorless and DSLR sales have gone DOWN every year (but 1) for the last 10 years and change. You've seen signs of this with certain acquistions. SONY bought Konica / Minolta which was ITSELF a merger of Konica and Minolta. Sonly got the 'legacy Lens MOunt....the 'A' mount. Was it Olympus who just recently reorganized and sold / modified their business? Look for some of the smaller but viable players, like maybe Panasonic (Lumix) with potentially Pentax and Leica also making changes. Unit costs in small runs MUST be killing 'em..... Neighbor got.....we can call him Cletus.....had hundreds of albums and a record grinder to play 'em on. BUT maybe 1/4th of his albums were in original wrappers. No amoount of my persuasion could get him to even CONSIDER a better spinner. I recently SOLD about 100 albums for 200$. I didn't want to fool around ala carte and had a 'box price'. Look UP this thread. One guy posted a pic of maybe 20x tubes of ONE type. 6SN7 are preamp tubes as far as I know, and as such should last a LONG time. You can get a board for the VTA ST70 / 120 which takes 3 of em and is a near-duplicate of the board that comes with the amp......I suspect units sold <100 annually of this board. As for tubes V streaming? Ya gotta have SOMETHING to play it on. It could be tube OR SS. shotkit.com/camera-industry-stats/Real good graphic showing what's going on with the camera industry. Does hifi mimic this trend? |

sort of like 12AU7A and 5963 and 5814 and 6189 and 6680 .............
12AX7 and 5751 and 7025 and 12AD7 and 6681 ............

Can someone tell me why i see KT88/6550 when I search for KT88 tubes to purchase? I also find comparisons of KT88 vs 6550’s WAY OVER my pay grade. I think similar tubes are 'converging' and will eventually be indistinguishable.......but just a guess? |
