Trey, as you and others state- the vast majority, enjoy the T2+. That's why I question if the crossover could be the issue in mine (& doughs).
The AMT is used in the Stealths which get very good reviews. The whole Airmotiv line has them so it's not the tweeter itself; the AMT was a selling point. People would have mentioned the issue in professional and used reviews if it was a design or product problem.
I've used the speaker with 5 different amps/receivers and the issue is consistent with all, so it eliminates the electronics. 
I don't come to the forum to trash their products, not my style. I look for answers, help and offer it if I can. 
In my mind, it's a crossover component problem.

Gotcha. I am sorry if I came across as upset with you or the difficulty you are having. I am an Emotiva fanboi, but not to that extent! And it appears to me you have at least done your due diligence in trying to get them to work. Sorry they did not!

I can play them through Monitor Audio and sound good. M.A.s are very particular with up-stream electronics. I did not want to move the speakers or disconnect and bring in the Integra (135 w/ch with EQ)
As I stated before, T2 are in a smaller room now. Speakers are 1 ft from wall, 7 ft apart.  Sitting 9-10 away the tweeters are ear level and too bright. Everything was "shouty", I dropped treble down to -4db then -6db before the issue was less noticeable. At -6 db the speaker started loosing over-all presence and at -4db, it wasn't enough attenuation.
When I was listening (direct mode) in another room (30 ft away) they seemed to blend better.
Don't know if a tube amp would mellow them down some. I do like the mid range & woofers.
I'm questioning the crossover (maybe bad parts from a vender?). I'm sure Emotiva won't resign it to attenuate the tweeter... but maybe an upgrade accessory??? (hint, hint) 
It took me us a while to confirm what we don't like, so I understand dough's situation.
I too may list them on the local 'for sale' website.

edit- T2 do sound better in the room they're in now., still not satisfactory & wondering if the ERT8.3 is better vs T2+

A crossover problem is something I have also considered. What you are stating with adjusting the treble - I am in complete agreement. When you turn the treble down enough to eliminate the harshness, all presence is lost. When you start to push the volume, the top end really falls apart. I think it's a shame, as I really like the bass response.

I would buy a Schiit Loki. Very good mini equalizer that has four different bands. If it helps great,if not you can sell used for almost what you originally paid for it. Did you keep the boxes when you got the speakers ?

Yup, kept the boxes. I've moved a lot in my life, and always try to keep the boxes for the stereo equipment.

Two words: ROOM TREATMENT

The rug on the floor is a good move. Put a ½" felt carpet pad underneath it.
Put a diffuser behind and between the speakers (commercial or DIY)
Put 2x4 foot x 4-inch-deep absorbers on the side wall first reflection points (commercial or DIY)
And finally, put some self-adhesive acoustic tiles on the ceiling.

Done.

If you have a microphone and PC/Mac, you might try measuring your setup with REW before making a lot of other changes
