I use this. I just switch it to the unconnected mode when not using the amp. It's a good thing to have!

I use one with my tube amp. I live in a wooded area and branches falling on electric lines and auto accidents hitting certain poles in the area puts the power out or flickering on/off frequent;y. It has saved the amp at least twice.

That’s a good thing to have in some cases. I use a few rocker switches that plug in before a device to provide quick switch control without the need for unplugging. That being said “so many amp. failures from owners” is over exaggeration. We see that being forum enthusiasts but it’s no more and probably LESS than it’s ever been with contemporary gear.
