He kept the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1. He really liked the Wharfedale Evo 4.1, but they were out of his budget.

I'm pretty curious about them now. Their EVO line, for the money, really impressed me; they image extremely well and are never fatiguing. He liked the EVO 4.1 when I demoed them in my room; I ultimately went with the EVO 4.4 as they have deeper bas response.

I'm facing the same dilemma. A positive one at that, but still confusing because there are so many choices. Selling the Klipsch RP-600Ms and looking for more bookshelves, nothing fancy or expensive and staying around $600-$800. Leaning back towards Axiom Audio, where I started this journey many many years ago.

100% agreed... don't think twice, do what's best for you and keep what sounds best to your ears. My son used Crutchfield to test a few bookshelves... 3 pairs were ordered, 2 pairs returned. I think it cost $12 / pair for return shipping. We auditioned a pair of SVS Prime bookshelves, Martin Logans and Wharfedale Diamonds... he kept the Wharfedales. Crutchfield does have a great return policy on Bookshelf speakers. I really like the ID companies, like RSL, Emotiva, Ascend, Aperion and PSA though out of my price range. Which Wharfedales did he end up with? I'll research them. Ascend gets my vote 😁. I have their CMT-340SE as my mains, very happy with them. A pair of those will be well within your budget. www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/products/speakers/cmt340m/cmt340m.htmlA step up would be their Sierra-1, which in turn is a little above your budget. www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/products/speakers/SRM1/srm1.htmlThey occasionally have B-stock, which would save you some money at the cost of some minor aesthetic imperfections. The owner and designer, Dave Fabrikant, is a regular on their forum and it is a very approachable guy. Always willing to help by email, phone or even in person if you visit their location in SoCal. No affiliation with them, just a very happy customer.

I know I probably won't get the most unbiased opinion here but I'll post to see what you say. I'm just stuck between several brand/models in my price range Emotiva T2+ being one. Its the only tower on my list as I am more of a bookshelf speaker guy, oh this is for HT 90%. My subs are SVS PB-2000 Pro and I had a PB-1000 already that I'm making it work. I know not ideal but its working for me. I have RSL CG23 speakers for LCR and CG3s for surrounds which are very good, just want to step up. On my list and I go back forth between them all are the RSL CG5 speakers, SVS Ultra Bookshelf/center, JBL which is a giant speaker company of course but the JBL Studio 530/570s possibly too, now its also the Emotiva T2+. Yeah the JBL 570 is a tower but its very, very small, like a mini tower. The Emotiva T2+ intrigues me for the 3-way design and the folded ribbon tweeter. Overall I just want something that is not fatiguing to listen to, and is very detailed, I like to hear the nuances in movies and music. Let me know what you think, thanks. Oh my budget for the mains alone is up to 800 bucks. If you are doing atmos, DO look @ RSL C34E $125 ea, 4/$500- bang for the bucks & hard to beat. I'll reserve commenting on T2+ until my issue is resolved.
