Is there a way to set the XMC-1 so that the fronts are set to large, and you still get the .1 output to work for the subwoofer? I want the subwoofer to work in 5.1 and it is not needed for stereo.

Large Fronts, Small Center and Surrounds, Left Sub Mono. All Bass Management for Small channels is sent to subwoofer, and the .1 LFE is also sent to subwoofer. Fronts, Center and Surrounds are all Large, Left Sub Mono. Since no Bass Management is needed because there are no Small channels, only the .1 LFE will be sent to the subwoofer. If you use both subwoofer outputs then you can set them to Stereo Subs, or, Dual Mono, with the same results as above. If you want to verify that no .1 LFE is being sent to the Large Channels, just use REW and run a sweep for LFE and verify that the Large Channels are not active during the sweep. Large Channels should not be active according to the manual and what I remember from when I had the XMC-1.

Like ttocs said ... exactly! But beware, DO NOT use Enhanced Bass on the XMC-1. It has the unusual behavior of sending LFE to the large speakers in addition to the subs! I was startled to figure this out when parts of A Quiet Place caused the diaphragm on my right Magnepan 3.7 to slap against the magnets whenever the alien let out a 26Hz roar. Luckily the XMC-2/RMC don't have this behavior.
