Well I’m getting a jump on my annual Apple OS & Hardware thread. Mostly to post that the fall event has been scheduled for Tuesday September 14 at 10 AM PDT. If you want to watch it live, you can use the tv App, on any platform you have available (TV, iPhone, iPad, macOS, and some Smart TVs). On the hardware side we’re expecting four versions of the the iPhone 13, possibly the Apple Watch 7, and other devices. But last year they spread the releases out over the fall, so new MacBooks, iMacs, or iPads could come out over the next couple of months. iOS & iPadOS 15 will be released with the iPhone, though iPadOS could be delayed a bit, tvOS 15 and watchOS 8 should be in the mix as well. macOS Monterey should also released, some of us are watching to see if any improvements to the Apple Music App come along with that; namely bitperfect playing of lossless files, and higher bitrate and lossless AirPlay 2. I’ll add some links below if you’re interested in reading more. Personally I’ve been holding out for the iPhone to switch to USB-C (like the iPads) but that’s not going to happen, and after four years it’s time to replace my X, so I’ll be ordering maybe a 13 Pro. Also sold my 2013 MacBook Pro earlier this summer and will be waiting for a new MacBook Pro with a larger (better) screen and maybe a newer M1(x) processor. www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/iphone-13-launch-happens-sept-14www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/ios-15-rumors-release-date-new-features-everything-we-know

They will have three sizes, the standard sized iPhones 13 and 13 Pro (with better camera), the larger 13 Max (also with better camera), and the smaller 13 Mini — at least that’s the scuttlebutt.

Nothing in these releases excites me this time. I'm still digging my iPhone 12Pro and iPad Air 4th Gen. I will never go back to an iPad Mini as I've found the size of the iPad Air 4Gen to be perfect.

My wife likes her 12 as well, I need a new phone so the 13 pro has my name on it (Verizon seems to have a good trade in deal on my X). Hoping for a new MacBook Pro in a month or so too (in time for ski season ⛷)

Can you compare the Air 4Gen to the original Air? I just love the size, weight and custome cover for the original IPad Air.

I really like my 4th gen Air, it's a nice fit between the iPad and iPad Pro, I got mine through the Carrier I work for and it has a sim card and shares data in my 50gb data pool

I'm planning on retiring my iphone 7 (256gb) and getting the iphone 13 Pro. I'm with Verizon.
I really like doing the buy in the Apple store. Looks like Apple will give me $50 for my phone.
For those in the know....what's the best deal and way to do this? In store? Preorder? Can you preorder and pick it up in store?
Help.

It no longer updates. Not sure why. I’ve read ( AudioHTIT) that Verison was offering a good deal on the IPhone 13 but my carrier didn’t even offer the 13.

Preorders start on Friday, they (probably) can only be done online, delivery dates haven’t been specified, but would also depend where you were in line. I think there will be an option to pickup in store, but those details aren’t visible yet. There is definitely an option to have it delivered to your home, and then take it to the store for setup, which is almost the same. It also looks like you can trade in any iPhone 6S or newer (and some Androids), I think the 6 Plus is one year too old, but you can probably sell it for more than they’d give you anyway (which would be $30-$60). Currently all the deals are only visible on the Apple site, including the carrier details, I’d guess on the 17th the carriers may have them posted as well. I’m on Verizon and their trade in deal looks particularly good, up to $700 for my X (4 years old), if I signup for 24 months, and pay 30 monthly installments for the phone. I’ve tried to confirm that it’s good for existing customers, and both Apple and Verizon say yes, but I hit a wall getting more detail than that. So you should be able to buy from both Apple or Carrier and get the same deal, supply may be the issue and it could go either way depending on who goes where.

I'm thinking about signing up for the Apple Card and using it for an interest free loan, plus 3% back and making it easy to purchase future Apple products. I'm not sure how the trade in would work. I don't want to mail my old phone anywhere. Much easier to drop it off at the Apple store.

I don’t want my phone either and plan to trade it in one way or another, the Verizon deal (if actually available to existing customers), seems to give the best trade it, and the 30 month payments are zero interest, but if I didn’t have a Costco rebate Visa, I’d probably get the Apple One (I do like Apple Pay / Cash). I do think if you trade in with Apple you have to mail it back, but honestly not sure if you can drop it at the store as well. Edit: The link below covers some of the ‘deals’, here is the Verizon language: “ Verizon Up to $800 off with an eligible trade-in New and existing Verizon customers can get up to $800 off the iPhone 13 models with an eligible trade-in. Verizon will also cover up to $500 for new customers to switch and the two offers can be combined. So, if you're thinking of switching to Verizon, you can get up to $1,300 off the new iPhone 13. However, the deal only applies to select unlimited plans” www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/iphone-13-price-and-preorders-how-to-get-apples-new-phones-for-0-starting-this-friday

I do have the Costco Citi card, which we use for everything, but in this case unless I go through Costco, the Apple Card gives you an additional percent, or two. When we bought my wife the iphone 11, we went to the local Apple store, lined up, waited our turn, and bought the phone she wanted and traded in her old one right then and there. They also set up her new one. It was pretty smooth except for the waiting. We just paid in full right there using the Citi Costco card.

I’m sure you will eventually be able to do all that, it may just be a while.

I'm not in a hurry as the 7 is still working and in mint condition (Otterbox case and glass screen protector). It's just getting slow after five years.
