I just saw some info on the brand new Presonus 65 V2 powered studio monitors. I have been using my Airmotiv 6s for several years now and they have performed well in a small desktop studio layout. The Blue LEDs stopped working then woke up and then stopped working but otherwise they still perform well. The new Presonus speakers look a bit like the Airmotiv but with the obvious wave guide and front port. Would it be foolish to consider a side grade?

I have several Stealth 8's and a pair of Airmotiv 6's. The problem is repairs if anything goes wrong. If Emotiva don't come out with more powered monitors (I'd be happy with a class D amp version) I'll probably end up with either these (they look really nice!) or some Adam Audio T8V's when my Emotivas fail :-(. I'd prefer to buy blue. Emotiva, if you're listening..

That tweeter is pretty easy to use to make a decent speaker.

Most of what ails an Airmotiv is pretty easy. If you are enterprising and don't mind having a qualified tech or if you are technically inclined, you probably can bring the Airmotivs back to life. It comes down to costs and convenience considerations, but there are many great near field monitors to chose from. I am not influencing the jury here. If you are open to what is out there beyond the Airmotion Tweeter, the world is your Oyster. Nothing against Airmotion Tweeters. They work bitchin'. It just depends on your tastes and expectations.
