Advice / Suggestion / Comments request: My thinking is to go optimal+ power requirement meaning above speaker power a little bit but not overboard.
Setup: Processor RMC-1L Room size: 22 x 18 feet. Speaker setup : 7.2.4 Screen Type and size: Acoustic Transparent and 165 inch Speakers going to be: All Emotiva speakers T2+, C2+ E2+, Vaulta ceiling speakers Subwoofer would be: Either pairs of RS11 / RS13 / SVS 2000 and above pairs Projector would be: JVC NX5 My main purpose is for movies and occasionally music (75% to 25%)
Here are the advice question I have: 1. I see differential amplifier available DR3 but I see this as too much power for the speakers I am going for, therefore I would like to go with XPA 3 for main stage 2. For remaining 8 channel (4 side and 4 ceiling) I would like to go with 2 x outlaw 5000x amplifier In their I can use upto 120 watts granted I would be wasting 1 channel in each amplifier but looking into the cost it would be around $1600 3. Emotiva has custom amp option but for a 8 channel I would have to go with Eight-4-2S($1800) or Eight 6-1S ($2100), In either case the cost is higher than outlaw and the power rating for main is 300W two channel driven (so 150 for 4 channel approx.) and 60W for stereo channel for 8 ohms speaker. E2 side and back surround can take 150W peak and Vaulta ceiling can take 150 W nominal. 4. What is best for the cost of around $2K for a pair of subs Emotiva (RS11 / RS13 ) or SVS PB / PC 2000 pro or SB3000 I want to go with Emotiva to get timber match but SVS is really juicy as well.
What do you all think about this setup or your suggestion that can give some improvement to my model. Thanks in advance.

Have you considered an XPA-11...?

Have you considered an XPA-11...? Agree but that has stereo connection for surround and ceiling speaker and stereo is rating at only 65W two channel driven. Since I use E2+ and In Ceiling their sensitivity is only 87 dB so I need much higher watt to push close to 100 watt I do not want to compare this with THX which is 106 dB(crazy loud). Since I am going to be atleast > 2 Meter away from satellite speaker I need around 64W border line to amps 65W so I need more power just to go beyond thats why I am aiming for something close to 120 W just to be in safer side. and I do not want to combine surround and main stage.

I'm using an XPA-9 to power my C/SS/RS and tops. No problem whatsoever achieving reference (75dB) levels with my tops using the stereo blades with some headroom to spare. My top speakers are not much more sensitive than the Vaultas. Under real world conditions (or unless you're a fan of all channel stereo), you don't need massive amounts of power to drive your surround and/or top (or height) channels. Your L/C/R will get the vast majority of activity... EDIT: But if you prefer equal power to all seven of your bed channels, you could also go the route of an XPA-7 along with a BasX A4 to power your tops. Total price would be $2598. This would likely be the route that I would take.

Consider the Starke Sound AD4.320 amplifier - four channels & good sound - $1,399 list. But they put them on sale occasionally for $999.

Thanks in advance. First? speakers don't have power. And the ways of determining maximum are different but somehow related. I wouldn't worry about that AT ALL. With ALL your proposed speakers playing at the same time? I somehow doubt you could EVER redline an amp and more likely use less than 10watts per speaker EVER. And at that point? With 10db louder peaks (not unusual) you will only be into it for 100 watts each.......I wouldn't know how to figure TOTAL Sound Pressure Level which under those conditions would cause brain damage. How are your EARS? Can you hear distortion? Than TURN IT DOWN some. Speakers also have problems when they GET HOT. And they DO get hot. Copper changes characteristics a little at temp and NOT to the better for our purposes. It's called 'compression' and should be avoided. You should be thinking in terms of Additional Circuits to power everything. Make them 20 amp. BOTH your proposed Outlaws go to ONE while the other while another circuit for main amp and SUBS. Power conditioner OR Isolation Transformer OR Whole House Surge Protection should also be considered. Subs? I'm a fan of HSU Research. They are located 6o miles UP the freeway from me, so my choice even managed to SKIP SHIPPING.....I had to borrow a 'wagon' so I could fit the speaker IN! My sports car wouldn't work for that at all www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3mk5HPDual.htmlFor driver compression? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_compressiondon't forget that your speakers are probably UNDER 5% efficient which means that 95% of the power going IN is eventually used to HEAT your room.

Just give them the cubic footage and a good idea how loud you wanna go and they can set you up.

I see you are quite new. I'd heartily recommend going somewhere to LISTEN to nearly anything on offer at a real store. It's getting tough to find, but still a very good idea.
Lots of 'space' outside the Emotiva Ecosystem. And not all Budget Busting. I've never figured out how to buy speakers online......
I WOULD say definately, that if you are going to get all that amplification? Get at least 2 more 20 amp circuits run. And PROTECTION in the form of whole-house surge protection.
I lived in FLORIDA and consider myself lucky I didn't electocute myself on those Terazzo Floors.....If you live in a lightning prone area? Surge protection a MUST........
Doc1953 has a GOOD point about power. To which I'd add......and this is a good takeaway.....Speakers don't have watts. Period.

Save some money and get the 7000X for your mains, I'm running my three 753 towers and two rears with ease, it is interesting how up in Canada people are gushing in their shorts over used Gen 1 amps when you can get a 7000X for the same price I see people buying Gen1 XPA-3 or XPA-5 amps for that are 10+ years old with zero warranty, I mean they are nice amps but not worth more than what they were new when you still can get ones closely alike for the price. I've owned many Emotiva XPA amps and I do not feel subdued by the Outlaw 7000X, I've said it before and I will say it again Emotiva should be making an amp to compete with it for it's features and price.

I had a home theatre before but its all connected to a receiver kind of stuff so yes I am new in this area. Yes I do have 1 separate circuit (with arc and gfci combined) for 20 amps and they go hand in hand with power conditioner. The whole house also has surge protection. I live in georgia so not major storm or lightning. Speakers do not have watts I agree.

I live in georgia so not major storm or lightning. Speakers do not have watts I agree. Glad you have some of the fundamentals covered. And I suspect even Georgia has MORE lightning / tornado activity than I do here in SoCal....though I was in Palm Springs doing some house sitting when a MAJOR storm blew thru with 3 lightning strikes so close the sound / flash arrived together. And it DID take out a computer modem! Everybody OUT of the pool! A real Butt Clench! As for where to go listen? YES, it is getting tougher and tougher. An extreme solution may be to go to the nearest Big Town /City......in your case Maybe Atlanta or Savannah? Make an APPOINTMENT ahead of time at a few places which carry good stuff than GET A ROOM and spend the night. Believe me, I know how nutty that sounds. But it is really IMPOSSIBLE to buy speakers without audition. And better still, in YOUR home. Take the WIFE out to someplace Nice For Dinner.....maybe even a show or other entertainment......IOW? Get some 'buy in'......Spouse Acceptance Factor is NOT to be underestimated! (SAF) Bring some of your favorite music AND a notepad. Some persons have successful systems using an HT as the 'center' and using the Pre Outs to run a better set of amplifiers. Trouble with HT receivers starts with mediocre amps and ends when you find it CAN'T be Fixed. There are 2 main kinds of electronic parts. Commondity is stuff like resistors. many types of transistor and capacitors. ALL are available and will work in anything from 40 year old tube gear to modern stuff......though Surface Mount IS making that a little tougher. Prioprietary parts are more....custom.....and maybe exclusive to a brand or manufacture of prime parts. Tough to get in 5 or 6 years when something breaks.......That SEEMS to be what happens to many HT components. Proper amps should last a LONG time (2 decades is not unusual) while lasting thru several 'upgrade cycles'...... Finding a reliable fix-it guy.....a GOOD 'Technician' with skills is also getting tough. Many 'oldsters' are retiring and taking some skills with 'em. That 20 amp circuit you have? Priceless. Many people try to run big systems off a single 15 amp circuit. This can have audible problems. Me? I plug both my amps into a 20 amp circuit of their own. I have a very good Panamax and use its Isolation Transformer on low current gear while my sub plugs into the 'high power' outlet. If we had lightining storms? I have a whole-house Surge-X or Brickwall or ZeroSurge suppressor....all with NO MOV devices..... During the SUMMER? I'll unplug the works IF I see powerline voltage dropping below about 115 or so. Welcome to California......
