Looks like Disney+ will now offer IMAX Enhanced versions of the Marvel films. What’s also interesting is they will have a version of DTS sound tracks also. No idea if it’s DTS-Pro or just DTS-X. If it’s Pro that would be a legitimate reason for Emotiva to get Pro support on the G3 units. www.engadget.com/disney-plus-imax-enhanced-marvel-mcu-140016192.html

Whats the data rate for DTS pro audio stream on a Bluray? Any DTS or Dolby stream will be compressed compared to the Bluray/4K version. Only so much stuff you can fit in that Disney + stream. www.reddit.com/r/DisneyPlus/comments/dvjvtl/some_bitrate_tests_and_comparisons/I see some as high as 30Mb/s which is impressive but still a third of a 4k bluray. So keep that in mind when talking about these lossy streaming formats vs the lossless audio of disk media.

Honestly I’m more excited about the video part of this than the audio. With almost all TVs 16:9 and a majority of projectors the same way I am happy to get something with a format that will better fill the screen.

................and so IMAX Enhanced Marvel movies on Disney+ are now available, under the "VERSIONS" tab after selecting the movie to be viewed. The 1.90:1 aspect ratio sure does add to the movie experience.

Fortunately for Emotiva owners the audio is still Atmos on the Disney releases. When I first tried watching Shang-Chi last night on Disney+ on AT4Kgen2 the app reported an HDCP compatibility error and suggested changing cables or bypassing the XMC-2 and cabling direct to the TV. I have HDMI certified ultra high speed Zeskit cables. This morning the movie played fine with no problems.

I found the fight scenes in Shang-Chi difficult to enjoy because the jerky virtual camera movement is distracting and makes it hard to focus on the otherwise excellent fight choreography. I hope that this is just the cinematography of this individual movie and not illustrative of the IMAX home movie format.
EDIT: I think it is mostly the vertical camera movement that is distracting. I watched some of the same scenes switching between IMAX and widescreen modes. With more background images showing IMAX the vertical camera jerks are made more distracting to me.
SECOND EDIT: I just found a NY Times review that critiqued the fights so it may just be this one movie “Besides one sensational fight sequence on a bus, the battles are poorly lit and filmed with such an over-excited eye that the intricacies of the choreography are lost. It’s a travesty, because Liu, a seasoned stuntman, has the effortless acrobatics and fastidious martial arts technique of an A-list action hero.”

Besides the latest crop of Sony panels, I don't know of any streaming devices that support DTS.

Besides the latest crop of Sony panels, I don't know of any streaming devices that support DTS. Quite true... LG and Samsung really screwed the pooch. No support for DTS whatsoever. Not even pass-through via eARC. However, any streaming device that supports HDMI audio bitstreaming (the Nvidia Shield for example) would work.

Watched some last night....not entire movies, just a few minutes here and there. Not sure if I like it or not yet.
