Hi all. I have (1) CMX-2, and (2) CMX-6s in my system. I am looking to get shorter versions of the 110 cords from the same supplier. I emailed Emotiva and was told they are just generic cords from the hardware store. Does anyone know where I can source shorter versions of these cables. BTW, the ones at ACE Hardware don't look like they will cut it.

The most important thing you’re looking for is gauge, or more specifically AWG (American Wire Guage), you want a 14 AWG Cable capable of 15A. I’d get something like this, they come in multiple lengths fro 2 to 12 feet. Edit: Clarification, 14AWG is the minimum size you should get to maintain the CMX’s 15A rating. You could get a larger cable, which would be a smaller AWG, so a 12 or 10 AWG cable would also work fine and be safe (though they likely wouldn’t provide any benefit over the 14) www.tripplite.com/products/power-cords-standard~5-32

Yes Monoprice is a good place to find what your looking for at a low price. Here's probably what you'll want, available in several different lengths starting at 2 ft for only $3.49. Here's where to go: www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=40070

OOC, are the amp power cords also 14AWG? i.e. the XPA-5 Gen1/2 or the XPA-1 Gen2? I've been searching but no luck confirming so far.

Any amp that can tax the limits of a 15A circuit like those amps can should come with a 14 AWG cable (and probably did for UL rating). I can say my XPA-7 G2 & 3 both came with 14AWG power cords. If you’re asking about one you have, you can usually find the size on the cable, typically written as 14/3.

I swapped out the long CMX cables with much shorter Pangea Audio AC-14SE MkII power cables; a 14awg cable. I also use these on my amps, preamp and streamer. If you want something thicker, go with their AC-9 MkII; a 7awg cable.
