I've been a Beatles fan since I was 5. I still have my original copy of Sgt. Pepper in vinyl, of course. My cousin bought it when it first came out, but upon hearing it - his Mom would not let him keep it so he gave it to me. I played it over and over, and it was well worn out by the time I went to college. I found a high quality pressing and bought that, and I played it a lot (but kept it in perfect shape). I have at least 1 if not 2 CD copies (original one and remaster)… Sgt Pepper is an exceptional album, and whether you think it’s their best (I do, but know many prefer “Rubber Soul”, “Revolver”, or others), it was groundbreaking in concept, recording techniques, and its reflection of the times. I too have my original SPLHCB vinyl, another given by a friend, and the original and remastered CD. Then on the 50th anniversary I was lucky enough to hear the Atmos remix, described here: emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/52909/50-years-ago-today-plusThough I don’t normally go for anniversary box sets, this one drew me in. The packaging is great, a fancy ‘wiggle picture’ sleeve covering a simile of the original tape box, which holds a book, original album insets and an LP sleeve that holds the various CDs, Blu-ray Audio 5.1, & DVD-A. View AttachmentSgt Pepper is my fave also, but Let It Be is a close 2nd for me. That's a cool box set! Mark

RIP John Winston Ono Lennon (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English singer, songwriter, musician and peace activist who achieved worldwide fame as the founder, co-songwriter, co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles. Lennon was characterized for the rebellious nature and acerbic wit in his music, writing, drawings, on film and in interviews. His songwriting partnership with Paul McCartney remains the most successful in history.

That was pretty cool and thanks for sharing. Some surprises like "Got to get you into my life" I always thought was a girl.

The BBC has a series of interviews with Paul remembering how he wrote certain songs (there’s also a BBC interview about the breakup, but can’t seem to share it off of FB). That was pretty cool and thanks for sharing. Some surprises like "Got to get you into my life" I always thought was a girl. It was … her name was Mary 😉😁😜 (I was surprised too)

I have warm memories of my son (many years ago when he was about 5 or so) sitting in his car seat singing this tune out the car window.

John demonstrated the meaning of the phrase "love is blind". I don't have an absolute fav album, but if forced to choose- Abby Road because they were totally on their game in many ways. George proved he was the silent leader the public didn't realize. It wasn't until his solo career that we heard how good he really was as a writer and musician. George is the only Beatle who's solo albums I bought. Paul was too bubble gum and John got too weird from Yoko's influence. Only two public figure's death really bothered me: SRV (because I knew him) and George- and I have no idea why. I was rehab'in a house when I heard it on the radio and stopped working for about an hour, just sat on the edge of the bath tub and his songs played through my head. When the Beatles played Cleveland in 8/1966, my best friend's uncle offered to take us to the concert, both of our parents refused to allow us to go. For decades we talked about how mad we were for missing that show. Al played at Beatles-Fest for many years and his last was 2018 in New Orleans House of Blues. He could sing McCartney as well as anyone I've heard.

housetech: All true about George and Paul's music. Partly true on John (IMO). He wrote some of his best music after the Beatles; like the 'Remember' album.

David, I don't remember "Remember" very much, I'll stream it today. Thx. There is so much good music posted on the forum from members. I fire up the HTPC, listen on my system and appreciate their efforts. I've discovered a bunch of new music (to me) from the group. Thank you to all.

I've always felt Yoko was a bad influence on John. Perhaps a satanic witch.

I am not a fan of Yoko's "musical" work. But, she did some very interesting avant-garde art in the early 1960s.

It is kind of anti-music isn't it? Music has singing, she screams off key vocalizations. And there are times I really do appreciate it, right after she stops.
