TV : LG SUHD SK9000(2019), OLED CX(2020), C1(2021) model, Sony Bravia, Etc.
APP : Netflix
Connection : ARC
Device : XMC-2 / RMC-1 / RMC-1L
Symptom:
Run Netflix on TV internal APP, using HDMI ARC, send untouched bitstream, Device setup as 7.2.4 or 7.2.6 Atmos capable, FW 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, Netflix can't detect connected processor as Atmos capable device so it does not even show ATMOS titles as "ATMOS" but "Dobly 5.1", and send DD+ 5.1 only.
Same TV, same connection, change processor to Denon AVR-X4400H, AVR-X6500H, Marantz AV-8805, Onkyo PR-RZ5100, Samsung/LG/Harman-Kardon and various brands SoundBars, successfully detect Atmos capability of connected device by Netflix and thus play DD+ ATMOS contents without problem.
Same TV, same connection, with Emotiva processor, using Disney+, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, Tidal music can detect Emotiva as Atmos capable device, thus play DD+ ATMOS contents without problem. In this condition, using eARC / ARC does not affect result although Emotiva is not using eARC.
I report this to other thread but now I would like to report here officially.
Netflix as now mainstream of streaming VOD service worldwide, and TV app is vital by many users, do not expect people using other device such as APPLE TV 4K for only Netflix Atmos.
Using TV internal app is easy, comfort for none-Home Theater machine wise people such as Wife and Kids, so this "BUG" must be fixed. I hate to run PC or APPLE TV 4K or Nvidia Shield for only enjoy Atmos from Netflix.
If other apps on TV also shows same problem, this responsibility is goes to TV manufacturer or App developer.
If Netflix on TV also shows same problem with none-Emotiva devices, this responsibility also goes to TV manufacture or App developer.
But only Netflix on TV has problem with only Emotiva, means there is something wrong for protocol handshake process between Netflix app and Emotiva. Perhaps, only Netflix app is using somewhat different handshake procedure than other apps, but still, it is success with other brand devices.
Emotiva developers just connect LG TV (Netflix capable model) with ARC connection, can see this problem right away. Hopefully they agree that this is not normal, and fix it as soon as possible, I wait this problem fixed since 2019.
