Just recently purchased above record deck. Primarily using preamp as a headphone amp with just a CD player and the record deck connected.
All works fine with my LINN LP 12 but using the Technics there can only be described as a pulsating background noise. It doesn’t sound like mains hum. It also changes slightly if your hand is place around the phono leads.
Using the moving magnet stage only.
Was advised it might be a ground problem. So made a lead - connected to the mains earth and grounded the pre amp and deck. No improvement.
Any transmitting devices in the area were turned off.
Returned deck and the shop found no faults with it!
